  • Fantastic Insights Into Health

I absolutely love that Dr. Taz talks about the nuances around research and the scientific method - not everything fits into this tiny box. The human body is so much more complex than what a controlled study can show. This podcast is a breath of fresh air.

  • Frustrating messaging

The irony of your interview with Dr. Erika Schwartz is that while she emphasized, “Don’t let your doctor scare you,” she scared me more than any other MD ever has. I am 53 and take good care of myself, but according to her I’ve done everything wrong: birth control pills for 30 years, a hormonal IUD in perimenopause, and moving toward a MHT patch. She also scared us by saying not taking hormones - as a cream for estradiol *not* in a patch - will basically render us useless and without energy in m... more

95% of Breast Cancer Has Nothing to Do With Your Genes | Dr. Kristi Funk
Q: Tell us about the role of diet and plant-based eating for reducing risk and managing insulin resistance?
Plant-forward, whole-food approaches can reduce oxidative stress and inflammation; reducing saturated fat and adopting plant-based proteins can improve insulin sensitivity, lower IGF-1, and help manage blood sugar, which in turn lowers cancer-promoting processes.
95% of Breast Cancer Has Nothing to Do With Your Genes | Dr. Kristi Funk
Q: What do you think is happening with breast cancer in women?
The drivers include a cumulative load of lifestyle and environmental factors—nutrition, toxins, obesity, inactivity, alcohol, sleep, stress—rather than inherited genetics alone, and these factors influence the cellular microenvironment and cancer risk.
Chinese Medicine Explained: Dr. Jordan Barber on Qi, Acupuncture, Herbs & Why Personalization Matters
Q: How can someone start if they're suffering and want to explore Chinese medicine?
Start by finding a licensed practitioner, have a conversation about your specific issues, assess fit beyond credentials, and understand that Chinese medicine offers multiple levers—lifestyle, diet, herbs, acupuncture, and mind-body practices—that can be combined with conventional care for comprehensive management.
Chinese Medicine Explained: Dr. Jordan Barber on Qi, Acupuncture, Herbs & Why Personalization Matters
Q: What would you tell someone listening or watching today who's curious about Chinese medicine?
Explain that Chinese medicine is a way of thinking about health and the body, not just a collection of therapies; it emphasizes personalization, the mind-heart connection, and the integration of Eastern and Western approaches. It's practical, evidence-informed, and should be pursued with a licensed practitioner who matches your needs.
How to Rebuild Intimacy in Long-Term Relationships: Caitlin V on Sex, Hormones, Communication & Connection
Q: What are the biggest warning signs that a couple should address in their intimacy?
Resentment and emotional distance are major red flags; when needs aren't met or there's a growing gap in feeling seen and valued, the relationship is at risk, and timely repair through communication and possible professional support is important.
