  • I just can’t listen any longer!

Such good information but it feels like I’m being yelled at the whole time I’m listening. Her voice makes me anxious, too hyper and frequently sounds condescending. I wish I could tolerate it but I just can’t listen any more

  • Praise and question

I love your podcast and I appreciate your work! All the info presented is clear and incredibly helpful. I do have a question - can you address surgical menopause and HRT options? Specifically, I’m taking estradiol- but it causes hives. Consulting with an allergist, I’ve quadrupled my antihistamine. Is there any other option?

Q&A: Your HRT Questions Finally Answered (The Stuff Your Doctor Glossed Over)
Q: What kind of hysterectomy? If you've had the uterus removed but ovaries functioning, how do you approach HRT?
If you have ovaries, you are still potentially peri- or postmenopausal and can use lab testing to tailor therapy based on symptoms since bleeding data is no longer available; if the ovaries are removed, you are postmenopausal and HRT considerations shift to symptom management and possibly estrogen-progestin strategies depending on individual risk.
Q&A: Your HRT Questions Finally Answered (The Stuff Your Doctor Glossed Over)
Q: Question number one: I'm in full menopause at 46. Can my hormone levels come up with supplements or do I need HRT?
Once your ovaries are fully done, or after a full hysterectomy, supplements are not going to increase your hormone levels; they can help with nutrient gaps and other symptoms, but they cannot replace missing hormones. The appropriate approach in such cases is menopausal hormone therapy if clinically indicated.
Barbara Birke: What No One Tells You About Muscle Loss, Hormones & Strength Training After 40
Q: How do you determine when to increase weights or adjust repetitions for beginners?
If you can do 15 repetitions for three sets with good form, you're in endurance strength; you can increase weight and reduce reps while maintaining form to continue progress.
Barbara Birke: What No One Tells You About Muscle Loss, Hormones & Strength Training After 40
Q: Can you build muscle during menopause, or is it too late?
It's never too late to build muscle; with proper training and consistency, women in midlife can gain strength and protect mobility and bone health.
Barbara Birke: What No One Tells You About Muscle Loss, Hormones & Strength Training After 40
Q: What's the one thing every woman over 40 should be doing for her body, but probably isn't?
Prioritize strength training, starting with manageable steps and gradually increasing intensity, because building muscle supports longevity, metabolism, and overall health.
