  • Too much “small talk”

If you like listening to kids talk about themselves — at length — then this is the podcast for you. Do they ever talk about the law? I’m not sure, because I always quit after ten minutes or so.

  • Decent content

Content is decent but too frequently only provides a liberal perspective. Needs more balance in ideology

I wasn’t really looking for partisan social/political commentary. Tried a few episodes, found the content lacking, and unsubscribed.

Yes it’ll bring the temperature down. A great show. You answered questions that I didn’t even think of yet such as the Twinkie eater doesn’t have a way to change the outcome. You laid it out in a way that you were my granddaughter in the 10th grade could understand. Thank you!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

National Monuments, Public Lands, & Presidential Power | Lawyer 2 Lawyer
Q: What about the weakest aspects of the new opinion?
The weaknesses lie in arguments that the Act supports broad revocation authority without clear congressional checks, and in the challenge of aligning 1938 interpretations with modern land-use realities.
National Monuments, Public Lands, & Presidential Power | Lawyer 2 Lawyer
Q: Where do you think this opinion is strongest?
The strongest points seem to be about Congress preserving plenary authority over public lands while recognizing the president has broad, but not unlimited, powers to designate monuments under the Antiquities Act.
EP 711: The Improv Advantage: What Trial Lawyers Can Learn from the Stage Part 1 | The Jury Is Out
Q: What exactly is the practical takeaway for a lawyer listening today?
Focus on yes-and practice, slow down to listen, and use the scene-building approach to frame questions and responses, which helps you respond to witnesses more effectively and keep the jury engaged.
EP 711: The Improv Advantage: What Trial Lawyers Can Learn from the Stage Part 1 | The Jury Is Out
Q: Why are we talking to improv experts on a lawyer podcast?
Because the core skills of improv—listening, collaboration, being present, and adapting on the fly—map directly to trial advocacy, deposition strategy, and client interactions, improving outcomes and reducing paralysis.
EP 1009: Introducing Sydney Marino | Heels In The Courtroom
Q: What are some ways you handle burnout and maintain balance in this line of work?
Sydney describes practices like long walks, turning off work mentally, leaning on family (especially her mom) for support, and prioritizing self-care to sustain performance.
