  • So helpful

This has made the mad candidate trawl to sort out who is and isn’t ticking the boxes so much easier. Quickest and easiest way to get a feel for the new candidates in particular. Listen on 1.5 speed and you can fly through. I know it’s been a mammoth task for the production team but it is definitely worth it.

  • Best election resource

As far as job selection processes go when applied to Deputies, effectively the manifesto is the CV, and this podcast is the interview we all needed - really brings to life the soft skills, ideas and personalities of a candidate. I had No’s that became a yes, and some yes that became a no off the back of these!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Deputy interview: Education president Paul Montague
Q: What are the problems in that area which you think need to be addressed?
We've got a bit of a squeezed middle, parents on reasonably good incomes are not getting any support for sending youngsters away to university which is incredibly expensive.
Deputy interview: Education president Paul Montague
Q: How long would you be happy to see the Sixth Form Centre operating at Le Mardicartre?
I'm not happy to see it there at all, it's suboptimal, it's not what we wanted.
Deputy interview: Education president Paul Montague
Q: Do you think it was the right decision to move the Sixth Form Centre?
It wasn't your decision and you couldn't reverse it by the time you were elected, but it's something we need to work on and find a permanent home.
Deputy interview: Education president Paul Montague
Q: Does it not concern you that that ordinance that you're going to ask the states to support later this month would be a straitjacket?
I don't think the current ordinance that we're putting before the states will cause that problem.
Deputy interview: Education president Paul Montague
Q: What persuaded you or who persuaded you in the end to go for the presidency?
I spoke to a number of people, sitting deputies, but also ex-deputies who I've got a lot of respect for, and I think they're very wise.
