  • Credibility going down a woke drain

Apparently a big issue for real estate is, erm, abortion. It’s just awful that people should be allowed to actually vote as to whether or not they want abortion to be legal. But never mind, companies know that it’s cheaper for them to pay their employees to kill their babies than to pay maternity leave. So hurrah for that!

  • Great podcast to fall asleep to

As a chartered surveyor I previously always enjoyed these podcasts but in the last year or so they have become incredibly dull and mundane. The Sunday morning series could benefit from being slight less informal and with greater direction. Good thing react news do not yet to podcasts!

  • Audio quality needs work

Really interesting for real estate professionals but audio quality and volume could really use some improvement - certain episodes are almost unlistenable

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Forget the trophy assets: this is where the real value in the UK office market is
Q: How has tenant demand evolved and what should landlords do differently?
Tenants now want spaces that feel like living in and working from home combined; landlords need to offer on-site management, quick resolutions, and a service-driven experience rather than traditional, static leases.
Forget the trophy assets: this is where the real value in the UK office market is
Q: What is the market missing, overlooking, when trophy assets dominate the discussion?
The majority of space is smaller than the big pre-let towers and is under-looked; owners and capital are focused on 20% of the market, leaving the 80% underperforming and requiring a shift toward service-rich, hotel-like experiences to unlock value.
The £21bn Blueprint: Steve Rotheram on Powering Liverpool’s Decade of Delivery
Q: Could you tell us a bit more about the benefits of Freeport status and Innovation Zone?
Freeport and Investment Zones are being unified under one governance structure to simplify regimes and offer a consolidated package of tax and tariff reliefs, making it easier for end users and investors to understand the benefits and commit to development.
The £21bn Blueprint: Steve Rotheram on Powering Liverpool’s Decade of Delivery
Q: Steve, could you please tell our audience what is being built?
A large mix of commercial space, housing, infrastructure, and enhanced public transport, all tied together by a strategic plan and supported by a Mayoral Development Corporation to speed up planning and deliver projects efficiently.
Beyond the void: Property guardianship as a strategic ESG solution
Q: So how does that process actually look like in practice?
The process starts as soon as keys are secured: an initial inspection, deployment of direct labor and specialist trades, rapid mobilization, and parallel documentation checks. Work is tracked in real-time through a system to ensure every step is signed off before the property goes live, often within a few days if conditions allow.
