  • Credibility going down a woke drain

Apparently a big issue for real estate is, erm, abortion. It’s just awful that people should be allowed to actually vote as to whether or not they want abortion to be legal. But never mind, companies know that it’s cheaper for them to pay their employees to kill their babies than to pay maternity leave. So hurrah for that!

  • Great podcast to fall asleep to

As a chartered surveyor I previously always enjoyed these podcasts but in the last year or so they have become incredibly dull and mundane. The Sunday morning series could benefit from being slight less informal and with greater direction. Good thing react news do not yet to podcasts!

  • Audio quality needs work

Really interesting for real estate professionals but audio quality and volume could really use some improvement - certain episodes are almost unlistenable

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The great office upgrade: Closing the UK’s performance gap
Q: So are we genuinely reaching a point where sustainability credentials are becoming just as important as location when it comes to office value?
Yes. The occupier and investor focus is shifting toward buildings that meet modern energy efficiency and amenity standards, with sustainability acting as a key differentiator alongside location, especially in regional markets where prime supply is scarce.
The vital high street: Unlocking town centre health hubs
Q: So please tell us a little bit about your involvement in the Health on the High Street Commission and how it will operate.
The commission convenes a cross-sector group to understand challenges, gather practical proposals, and work toward scalable solutions that bring healthcare into high streets, with a year-long timeline for gathering intelligence and returning with a final report.
Opportunity amidst change: Why the Renters’ Rights Act is a catalyst for growth
Q: So what is your tenant profile at the moment? Do you tend to give more guarantees for renters looking at that institutional product? Or are you also involved in the HMO market, the buy to let download market?
The guest explains they tailor guarantor services to different tenancy models, emphasizing multi-tenantSharers and international tenants, with a focus on fully covering the property and offering professional guarantor solutions to enable occupiers who might not qualify otherwise.
Breaking the gridlock on the next generation of New Towns and delivering new settlements
Q: How important is early investment in infrastructure and how is risk allocated between public and private sectors?
Early infrastructure delivery is crucial for viability and livability; risk should be allocated via clear delivery strategies and mechanisms, with the public sector de‑risking where appropriate to attract patient capital and ensure infrastructure is in place when needed.
Breaking the gridlock on the next generation of New Towns and delivering new settlements
Q: What delivery models are showing promise for site‑wide infrastructure in new settlements?
Delivery models vary by site, but possibilities include development corporations or master developers that can coordinate infrastructure, with public entities sometimes taking early risk and private partners handling immediate development, all underpinned by well‑defined funding structures.
