  • Unhinged

This lovely, irreverent piece of babble is not actually a knock-off of Harry Potter and the Wonks of Finance (despite the lead characters’ resemblance), but brings all of the authenticity of the markets, aged insights, and squeaky bum times befitting a serious financial inquiry. Plus Long and Shorts! Demonstrably delightful

  • Talk about

So don’t you think it’s time to talk about the profits made by war ? You know the one you started? Then align it to why you have zig zagging effect? Then align it to your corruption rackets that super rich are benefiting from? Or should we just keep ignoring the elephant in the room

The Story of Money: The trader who made $100mn from the 1929 crash — only to lose it all
Q: So Rob, when did you first hear of Jesse Livermore?
Rob explains how Livermore's life and Reminiscences shaped his understanding of market dynamics and the psychology of big bets.
The Economics Show: China wanted western tech. Now, the tables have turned.
Q: Why has China's approach to tech transfer in sectors like planes and semiconductors differed from others, and what does that imply for future policy?
China's bargaining power varies by sector, with downstream manufacturing exposing it differently than sectors like semiconductors that operate as intermediaries in global value chains; future policy should recognize these contrasts and be calibrated to sector-specific dynamics rather than universal rules.
The Economics Show: China wanted western tech. Now, the tables have turned.
Q: What lessons does Europe face when considering centralizing regulatory authority over FDI to prevent select firms from shop-flying for tech?
Europe can leverage its large market and absorptive capacity but must create a centralized, credible focal point for negotiations to avoid governance fragmentation and to ensure consistent bargaining power across member states.
The Economics Show: China wanted western tech. Now, the tables have turned.
Q: On a scale of 1 to 10, how strongly would you recommend Western governments respond to concerns about Chinese competition by persuading them to hand over their tech?
The adviser argues for a nuanced, policy-package approach where tech transfer is one tool among others, with strong caveats about sector differences and execution challenges; in some cases tailored requirements with a clear ownership stake can be beneficial, but the strategy is not one-size-fits-all.
How to surf turbulent markets
Q: What should investors do with AI-driven market gains?
Ride the AI wave but balance exposure by building a diversified, low-cost portfolio and targeting high-quality, underperforming stocks for potential longer-term gains.
