  • Good info but lots of vocal tics

CAN THE HOSTS STOP IT WITH ALL THE “LIKES?” The biggest strength of this program is the guests along with some vital topics. The biggest weakness is the hosts. Both use “like” repeatedly as if they are valley girls. Joe is especially weak as a voice—lots of vocal fry and a “like” an average of one per sentence. It’s a level of cringe one has to get through to hear the guests.

  • Loved the interview on macro with Jonathan Heathcote economist at Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank

This was one of the better interviews. He was easy to understand. I would like more of these big picture interviews.

The Bank of England's Megan Greene on Monetary Policy in a World of Supply Shocks
Q: Why did you vote to hold rates last week instead of cutting or hiking?
Given the lag in monetary policy effects and the uncertainty about second-round effects, waiting for clearer evidence before acting can be prudent, with energy price trajectories and other shocks in play.
The Bank of England's Megan Greene on Monetary Policy in a World of Supply Shocks
Q: What is the BOE's mandate?
The mandate is to achieve 2% inflation sustainably in the medium term, with the government's goals in mind, rather than a dual mandate like the Fed's.
The Bank of England's Megan Greene on Monetary Policy in a World of Supply Shocks
Q: What is your role as an external member of the MPC at the Bank of England?
Greene explains the MPC structure, the intentional inclusion of external members to bring outside perspectives, and how external members are seated to foster independence and accountability, including the transparency of voting.
How Baltimore's Mayor Is Fighting the City's Vacant Housing Crisis
Q: How does the city balance capital attraction with affordability and equity?
The mayor stresses not all development benefits the wealthy; they pursue mixed-income strategies, ensure developer alignment with neighborhood needs, and use wealth-building programs like Buy Back the Block to convert renters into homeowners, all while maintaining affordability targets and community benefits.
How Baltimore's Mayor Is Fighting the City's Vacant Housing Crisis
Q: What is the core strategy to convert vacants into assets—how does block-by-block work in practice?
Block-by-block planning pairs targeted demolition or renovation with appropriate housing outcomes, uses strategic investment zones, involves smaller developers and CDCs, and deploys tools like TIFs to fund across disinvested neighborhoods while preserving neighborhood aesthetics and providing mixed income opportunities.
