  • Loved the interview on macro with Jonathan Heathcote economist at Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank

This was one of the better interviews. He was easy to understand. I would like more of these big picture interviews.

  • Strong recommend

Love this podcast and especially love the different topics discussed so I can learn something new. It’s not just following market trends per se and a podcast version of cnbc like so many market podcasts are.

  • The “Perfect Podcast”

Tracy & Joe host one of the best podcasts in financial markets /economics. They are both knowledgeable - and fun - hosts and their guests are AAA class, real experts. The topics they select are generally spot on, sometimes complex, but again presented in way that you really enjoy it. I learn something new every time I listen to their podcasts (while running most of the time!). Keep doing this great job!

Jack McClendon on Why It's So Hard to Create a New American Oil Boom
Q: What conditions would prompt a more aggressive expansion or ramp-up in CapEx for your company?
A sustained price above 80 dollars per barrel for several months would likely trigger additional production activity, but execution depends on inventory, geology, and capital availability. We're monitoring prices and balance sheets to avoid overexpansion and maintain financial discipline.
Jack McClendon on Why It's So Hard to Create a New American Oil Boom
Q: What are the terms of your financing deals, and how do you structure debt vs equity in your capital stack?
Equity investments resemble traditional private equity, with capital returned plus a negotiated rate of return and a waterfall structure. Debt comes from banks at around 7-8%, with alternative structured-credit providers charging a premium but offering more favorable collateral treatment and some upside in royalties or overriding payments.
Jack McClendon on Why It's So Hard to Create a New American Oil Boom
Q: Would you say you're basically buying up small, underutilized oil and gas assets that larger companies may be discarding?
Yes, our strategy focuses on assets that are undercapitalized or underappreciated, particularly smaller producing wells or fields that are not attractive to the majors. We aim to squeeze more value from these assets and keep costs under control, rather than chasing the high-capex, high-risk shale play.
Ziad Daoud Explains How War with Iran Will Reshape the Gulf
Q: How might intra-Gulf relationships evolve in light of Iran's actions and the broader conflict, especially between Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar?
The episode suggests that while frictions exist (e.g., Yemen, Libya, Sudan policy differences), the Gulf states may choose to pursue a mix of closer coordination on security or energy policy while maintaining independent economic paths, leveraging shared wealth to diversify away from oil and manage regional risk.
Ziad Daoud Explains How War with Iran Will Reshape the Gulf
Q: What does it mean for the security relationship with the US if the Gulf cannot keep Hormuz open unilaterally and infrastructure is still vulnerable?
It implies that the security partnership must adapt, recognizing limitations in unilateral guarantees and possibly accelerating diversification of security partners and defense reliance, while rethinking the economic ties tied to energy flows.
