Managers often view themselves through the lens of storytelling but need to understand LPs better to create authentic connections.
Ted on Alt Goes Mainstream (EP.458)
Q: What do you think about how the wealth channel can look at the approach of institutional allocators?

CIO Greatest Hits: Private Equity – Mario Giannini (Hamilton Lane)
Q: What will determine the future of the private equity sector?
There's a self-regulating mechanism in the industry that helps limit excess capital, and I believe more money doesn't necessarily mean lower returns, as we've seen consistent outperformance over decades.
CIO Greatest Hits: Private Equity – Mario Giannini (Hamilton Lane)
Q: What have you learned over this path about growing an asset management business?
It's much harder than a turnaround, oddly enough. A turnaround focuses you on sort of the existential crisis, while growing a company offers numerous paths without a clear external pressure, making it hard to focus everyone.
CIO Greatest Hits: Multi-Family Offices – Jenny Heller 2021 (Brandywine)
Q: What evolved in your thinking about teams and culture with your managers?
Jenny discusses the evolution of recognizing the importance of team dynamics and understanding cultural dynamics within investment teams.
