Used to be a fantastic show I couldn’t miss having most mornings. Lately, it’s less about FINANCIAL news (hence name Financial Times) and all about war and global conflict. Not even about how war impacts business or finance but just generally about war. The FT has longer form weekend shows that are better suited for that kind of information. The FT has high standards for accuracy, analysis, and written English. The news podcast meets the first two, but the quality of the presenters’ spoken English disappoints. We all know that the dialogue is scripted. The daily “Got it” is poor grammar and rings false. The presenters should seek to emulate the spoken English of a David Pilling or Gideon Rachman, and less that of a teenage you-tuber!
