  • Disappointed

to see interview with Bill Gates after emails recently released show that he had a relationship with Epstein, relations with “Russian girls” and attempted to drug his wife so she wouldn’t find about about his STI from the “Russian girls”. What a deplorable man. The fact that this was not explicitly addressed and the decision to post this interview revised reveals something of how seriously Gideon Rachman takes, and objects to, association with a known perpetrator of child sexual abuse - i.e. not... more

  • Reflexively left

Gideon features commentators who appear more concerned about discrediting the Trump administration than conveying thoughtful analysis. In the most recent example, a commentator claims that the administration‘s actions are purely the result of Marco Rubio’s personal agenda. He doesn’t mention that this is consistent with Trump’s first administration. In the same episode, the unsubstantiated claims that the administration has a racial agenda go unchallenged. This show is a prime example of why the... more

  • Poor journalism

The recent episode containing the interview with Dahlia Scheindlin was misleading. It did not disclose that she is on the extreme left of Israeli politics, and that her assertions of what Israelis want are unrepresentative and inaccurate.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Lloyd Austin on Ukraine, Iran and the lessons of war
Q: What role does interagency process play in strategic decisions regarding Iran or Ukraine?
A robust interagency process should be used to craft credible options, consider second- and third-order consequences, and avoid rushing into actions without thorough, coordinated planning across government.
Lloyd Austin on Ukraine, Iran and the lessons of war
Q: How should the U.S. balance high-end platforms with expendable, cheaper options?
There needs to be a mixed fleet approach that leverages high-end platforms for capability and flexibility, while investing in expendable autonomous systems and scalable AI-enabled solutions to counter inexpensive, mass-produced threats like drones.
Lloyd Austin on Ukraine, Iran and the lessons of war
Q: What are the most significant ways drones are transforming warfare today?
Drones are enabling massed, low-cost battlefield effects, expanding target sets beyond traditional military targets, and forcing rapid adaptation in both defense and offense, while driving demand for affordable interceptors and layered defense systems.
Trump returns to Beijing: what’s at stake
Q: How has the US–China balance shifted over the past decade, and where does Taiwan fit into that calculation?
Crabtree argues the relationship is more equal now than ten years ago due to mutual leverage like tariffs and rare-earths restrictions, while Taiwan remains a critical flashpoint where any American concession on independence would carry significant diplomatic weight.
Trump returns to Beijing: what’s at stake
Q: What do you think Trump is hoping to achieve from his meeting with Xi, and how does that compare to his previous approach in Saudi Arabia?
Crabtree suggests Trump is seeking a high-visibility economic deal to showcase success, but the Chinese view is more long-term and strategic, focusing on stability and managing power dynamics rather than large, dramatic concessions.
