  • Lazy Labor Bashing

The constant Labor bashing by Merryn is getting old and is just so intellectually lazy. The key issues of UK are not because of labor policies it’s because of brexit and thatcher.

Too many Reform talking points disrupt some really interesting financial analysis. Surprised at the lack of balance on Bloomberg.

  • AI Tech USA

Love the show Merryn but why are you a perma bear on tech and now AI - past 5 years it’s been the only real game in town even this year whilst the Nasdaq has trailed Europe / UK the pure play Texh and AI funds like PCT / ATT have outperformed- I just feel sad for all the people that keep heeding your pov and don’t act as a result - they have lost a lot of money. You would serve to at least put a more rounded perspective

This Hated Corner of the Stock Market Is Yielding Big Returns
Q: How do you identify a 'gem' in the rubble and what is your process for idea generation?
He describes using a dual approach: a quantitative screen with a tool called Quest to model cash flows and a qualitative, private-investor style pipeline generation that avoids inbound broker calls, plus recent AI-assisted screening of RNS announcements to accelerate idea generation.
Carson Block: AI Could Trigger the Next Financial Crisis
Q: How does ordinary investors prepare for this?
Maintain caution, monitor unemployment and flows closely, consider staying in cash or liquid assets during the downturn, and plan for a post-disruption rebound by watching policy signals such as QE and rate cuts; for multi-generational gains, look for opportunities after the turbulence abates.
Carson Block: AI Could Trigger the Next Financial Crisis
Q: OK, so let's say we have a GFC style disaster in the markets. It's quick, it's huge, very unpleasant. How do the play out after that?
There will be government and central-bank interventions, real rates may stay near zero, but AI-driven deflation means nominal rates stay low; markets will reflate assets over time, with a shift toward cash and selective credit plays as the economy resets; later, a recovery could favor diversified or active management over passive strategies as policy supports begin to re-inflate asset prices.
The Rich Are Getting Richer: What Do They Want From Wealth Managers?
Q: What do high net worth individuals want from wealth managers today?
They want a combination of high performance and access to a broad, accessible range of products, delivered through a personalized, empathy-led relationship that stays proactive and real-time rather than purely periodic. They also seek convenience and the ability to manage their entire portfolio under one roof while considering new opportunities like private equity and digital assets.
Price Controls, Britain's Struggling Jobs Market, and the SpaceX IPO
Q: Given the current data, would you expect the Bank of England to hold or cut rates soon?
The data have helped the case for pausing hikes; BoE was likely to stay cautious, with yields behaving as a barometer for policy expectations.
