  • Good content but…

There is good advice and content in podcast. Would be helpful to listen to guests invited to be able to express their views as well as mostly content is spoken by Kyle.

My 10-point checklist for picking smaller company shares
Q: What would you say are the biggest risks in small-cap investing and how do you mitigate them?
Key risks include overexposure to highly geared, cyclically dependent firms and overreliance on a few positions; mitigation comes from diversification, avoiding aggressive acquisitions, meeting management, and having a clear investment thesis with three reasons to own the stock.
My 10-point checklist for picking smaller company shares
Q: So if you were to kind of imagine, say a checklist for kind of small and mid cap investing, what would you include on it?
The checklist starts with understanding the business, ensuring it is within your circle of competence, then prioritizing market leadership, pricing power, quality and predictability of earnings, and finally scrutinizing management and insider ownership to judge whether the company has a durable future.
Three ways to build an ISA portfolio from scratch
Q: What are the main considerations when starting to build a portfolio from scratch?
Consider your time horizon and circumstances, your appetite for risk, and how much you have to invest, which will influence diversification and the number of funds needed. A longer horizon allows higher risk tolerance, while near-term needs require caution.
How to get your finances in shape ahead of big rule changes
Q: Firstly, Craig, could you set the scene and explain what is changing?
The changes involve pensions being added to the estate for inheritance tax purposes from April 6, 2027, along with other tweaks like the cash ISA and savings tax treatment; listeners should plan ahead since the cliff edge nature of the date creates potential large tax implications for beneficiaries.
When to sell a fund, investment trust or ETF
Q: What are the most important factors to review when considering selling a fund or ETF?
Key factors include the fund's long-term performance relative to its style, the consistency of the fund manager or team, potential outflows and liquidity risk, and whether the fund's characteristics have meaningfully shifted from when you bought it.
