  • Chicken soup for the IO’s soul

As an IO psych guy (and a people analytics leader at my company), I have to say that I love this podcast. It’s interesting. It’s entertaining. Most importantly, it gives me perspective about how people analytics is being practiced in other organizations. Just what I need to make me think outside the box for my own company.

  • Entertaining and Informative

I found the first episode to be both funny and informative… a mixture of crazy data study experiences from their past, useful comments about mathematical techniques and real-world vs. academic differences. I appreciate that the hosts are willing to be wrong and discuss/debate topics anyway. Looking forward to listening to additional episodes and laughing along with the hosts about what really happens in the data world.

What We Know About Astronauts, Artemis 2, & NASA - Suzanne Bell - #172
Q: How do you balance training and selection in a context where you must be very selective but also increasingly open to commercializing space?
She explains the need for multimodal, multimethod assessment and the use of prior data to guide selection, while recognizing time constraints and the necessity of training that aligns with selection priorities.
What We Know About Astronauts, Artemis 2, & NASA - Suzanne Bell - #172
Q: What do you know about human beings under stress that perhaps no one else knows from your research?
Bell points to the large, integrated database and ongoing publications that reveal how humans adapt to extreme confinement, and how positive affect and cognitive performance relate to mission success, with ongoing updates as Artemis data comes in.
Is People Analytics Ready to be CHRO & Executive Search - Jennifer Wilson - #169
Q: How should organizations think about the role of technology and AI in HR leadership in the next five years?
The focus should be on collaboration between HR and IT, shared accountability for AI implementation, and developing leaders who blend human judgment with data-driven insights rather than relying on technology alone.
Is People Analytics Ready to be CHRO & Executive Search - Jennifer Wilson - #169
Q: Can People Analytics prepare someone to become a CHRO, and what else is needed besides analytics?
Yes, but only if the person also accumulates breadth across HR functions, business accountability, and the ability to influence senior leaders; a data-centric background must be complemented with broader business and leadership experiences.
Is People Analytics Ready to be CHRO & Executive Search - Jennifer Wilson - #169
Q: What are the new skills that CHROs need, and how has AI changed what leaders look for in HR executives?
AI and digital enablement are prioritized by CEOs, alongside advisory capabilities to the CEO, ethics, and traditional HR skills like succession planning and organizational design; the role is expanding beyond HR into broader enterprise leadership.
