  • Anthropic is right

Scott Besson and Peter Thiel appeared to misunderstand how safety engineering works in complex technology systems. Anthropic is not dictating the terms of US national security. Anthropic is a vendor that produces a potentially hazardous technology.

The company conducts safety analysis to identify hazardous scenarios and implement safety controls.

Their safety analysis has identified several well-known risks associated with AI including: lethal autonomous weapons without human supervision, co... more

  • Borders on AI slop

It’s pretty clear that this podcast is read by an AI voice and lots of the episodes are just an aggregation of various Twitter posts about an AI news topic. . Hearing what 20 different people post on Twitter about a new development in AI is not a useful podcast. Gives a very strong impression that the script is generated by AI and it ends up being very mixed in quality. Probably a good business to run a podcast like this, but not really enjoying it as a listener.

  • Wake up to job erosion reality

There is a dearth of new jobs for white collar workers displaced by AI investment. Companies have been diverting budgets to tech, not human capital. Employers are not incentivized for reskilling or hiring dispaced workers. Until the American political elite addresses structural asymmetries in the employment system and its unbuffered impacts on workers, you will see all manner of (rational) AI resistance.

  • Content Amazing, Cadence Needs Work

I love the content on this podcast, but I wish it was not quite like drinking from a fire hose. Nathaniel reads it with inflection, and I know I can slow it down, but it’s sometimes for me hard to absorb it. Doing a solo pod is so hard. I think if he would introduce more pauses so that we could think a bit, this would be great. Listen to a Jim Rome or a Mike Francesca podcast. They aren’t reading, so I guess it’s more natural to have pauses when you’re talking live without a script. Another from... more
