Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Geothermal Isn’t Just HVAC. It’s Grid Infrastructure
Q: Is this scalable beyond single homes to utility-scale impact?
Yes, with cloud monitoring and aggregation across many installations, geothermal can function as a distributed resource and potentially act as a virtual power plant for utilities while reducing peak demand.
Geothermal Isn’t Just HVAC. It’s Grid Infrastructure
Q: How do incentives and leases influence adoption?
Incentives like the 40% federal tax credit on leases and regional rebates help close the gap between upfront costs and long-term savings, making geothermal affordable for new homes and retrofit projects.
Geothermal Isn’t Just HVAC. It’s Grid Infrastructure
Q: Dan, what makes geothermal a better heat source in cold climates compared to air source heat pumps?
Geothermal uses the earth as a stable heat source, avoiding the big efficiency drop that air-source systems face in extreme cold, which means lower energy use and more reliable heating even on the coldest days.
Why Turbine Shortages Could Slow AI, Data Centres, and Decarbonisation
Q: What role does long-duration energy storage play alongside your technology?
Long-duration storage complements our solution by providing resilience during extended outages or low-renewables periods; however, our turbines offer high ramping flexibility and can drastically reduce the land and material footprint compared to large renewables-only approaches.
Why Turbine Shortages Could Slow AI, Data Centres, and Decarbonisation
Q: What is special about your turbine approach compared to legacy gas turbines?
We use a modular, 25 MW unit approach with additively manufactured components and a high-pressure oxy-combustion cycle, which reduces reliance on bespoke parts, accelerates production, and enables a smaller, cheaper, zero-emission turbine that can be deployed in a flexible, scalable way.
