Friends old and new join me in Derry and Toms roof gardens to discuss the work and influence of prolific British fantasist Michael Moorcock, as well as other bits of 60s and 70s genre fiction that came to me via my Grandad in the 80s and informed my world view. Books, music, role-playing games, wrestling in Featherstone Library and many other digressions await.

Michael Moorcock themed podcast. Great content - lots of laughs and an education on weird booze
All hail Breakfast in the Ruins! I feel like I’ve finally found my tribe. No one in my orbit even knows who Moorcock is—what a travesty. This is officially my new favorite podcast.
Moorcock mostly, but lots of other stuff too. Very northern and soaked in stupid beers.
Great to hear the latest episode! Also, 2 lads from my part of the world interviewed on the podcast! Wonderful! Podcast just gets better and better. Carry on!!!
This a great podcast, presented by an amiable host whose love for his subject shines through. Books, RPGs and even beers are covered; it’s accessible even to someone like me who’s only read a handful of Moorcock books (which will, of course, change).
It was the War of the Worlds episode that hooked me (their words echoing my thoughts on the various interpretations of that story) and I’ve stayed ever since. This was going to be a long review, but please just listen to this podcast and decide for... more

The show centers conversations around a prolific British fantasist and his wide influence, blending deep dives into literature with discussions of related genres like RPGs, music, and 1970s pop culture. Across episodes, guests and hosts explore Moorcock's literary networks, adjacent genres, and the cultural context that shaped his work, often layering personal anecdotes, music picks, and hobbyist tangents (RPGs, beers, cafes) into thoughtful, accessible analysis. A notable strength is the warm, witty banter that keeps dense literary and genre topics approachable, making it appealing to both hardcore Moorcock fans and curious newcomers seeking a broader view of mid- to late-20th century fantasy and associated media.
