  • So practical & accessible

I just listened to the hot seat coaching episode about the wheelchair in the airport and wow! I’m in grocery store about to cry, lol. It was such an excellent demonstration of the surface trigger versus the young core belief. And so real in acknowledging the things over which you have control on this journey (how you cope) and what you don’t (guarantees of love or acceptance). Thank you for sharing!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

85. Unflattering: Clothing Grief with Dacy Gillespie
Q: How should someone navigate the fear of losing options as their body changes, especially with limited size ranges?
Acknowledge the grief and scarcity, but adopt a proactive approach: edit the closet, store items that still hold value, explore brands that go up to inclusive sizes, and cultivate a style plan that centers authenticity and comfort. Build a wardrobe that grows with you and use tools like Pinterest to dream while staying flexible about fit and options.
85. Unflattering: Clothing Grief with Dacy Gillespie
Q: What do you say to listeners who feel financially unable to buy new clothes when their bodies change?
Theres a recognition that money is a real barrier, but practical strategies help—budget shopping, buying a few versatile pieces, prioritizing essentials, considering second-hand options, and choosing items that truly feel like a hell yes rather than overhauling a wardrobe. The emphasis is on maintaining mental health and access to clothing that fits, rather than chasing an ideal, with permission to shop affordably when needed.
69. The Hot Fat Guy Club: Cultivating Confidence with Alex Frankel
Q: How did you get to the point of not caring much about what people think of you?
It took a long time, but realizing the opinions of those outside my inner circle hold less weight was key.
69. The Hot Fat Guy Club: Cultivating Confidence with Alex Frankel
Q: What are your thoughts on a healthier way to deal with body image issues for youth?
We should give them tools and support rather than broadcasting that their bodies are wrong.
68. Bariatric Surgery + Food Freedom with Jay Salazar
Q: What advice do you have for people who want to shift into more intuitive eating after bariatric surgery?
Jay notes that this advice can be privileged, emphasizing the importance of discussing sustainability with doctors and considering personal circumstances.
