  • Liberating

The in-depth nature of bicycles and culture doesn’t get spoken about enough, Bike Talk on every episode has guest speakers who are educated and practiced in what they discuss about bicycle culture and how it impacts everyone’s life.

Nick and Taylor aren’t hosts full of themselves, they are here to tell the ever unfolding story of the bicycle.

The opinions of lawmakers, politicians, blue collar, white collar, everyone has a seat at the Bike Talk Table.

If you have any interest in cycling, you should be listening to this podcast. It is a great source of bike news from across the country. It is also something like a variety show, with relevant and varied interviews. The hosts have appropriate conversation, but they do not waste your time with endless banter. I am very fortunate that I came across it.

26/20 What We're Up Against
Q: How did Park Avenue come to be the way it is today?
Park Avenue was widened for car traffic decades ago, removing wide medians that used to serve as public space, and the DOT's current proposals keep a highway-like street layout rather than restoring park-like space.
26/17 Bikes Win In The End
Q: What happened with the DC bike lane case and why does it matter?
The federal government attempted to remove a protected bike lane on federal land, but a judge ruled in favor of preserving the lane, highlighting the importance of following proper procedures in infrastructure decisions and setting a precedent for protecting bike infrastructure.
26/15 Bike Bus, Bike Tour, Bike City, Bike Sport
Q: What got you running for City Council?
Alek explains his background in urban planning, his decade-plus experience, and his focus on making streets safer for all users, emphasizing traffic safety as a top local concern driven by community input and data.
26/14 Biking Is Not a Crime
Q: What role does outreach play versus actual infrastructure changes?
Outreach is important for buy-in, but the end goal must be saving lives through concrete engineering and policy changes that move projects from planning to ground-breaking implementation.
26/14 Biking Is Not a Crime
Q: How do you balance parking conflicts with safety upgrades in a dense city like LA?
By designing bidirectional plans and protected sides, running cost-effective pilot improvements, and using data like time-lapse parking studies to show potential benefits and manage neighborhood concerns.
