Chat and Chuckle with Dr. Marci Koski About Paths to Becoming a Feline Behavior Consultant
Q: What helped you to get more familiar with taking on aggression cases?
A combination of recognizing that most cases are cat-to-cat aggression, supplementing with courses (including IABC and PPG content), mentorship, and watching real cases while shadowing peers helped build confidence.
Chat & Chuckle with Erika Liljefelt About the Dynamic Dog Practitioner and the Connection Between Pain and Behavior
Q: What would trigger that, in practical terms, for a client coming to you with a behavioral issue?
The trigger is usually when initial evaluations show potential pain indicators, or when the dog's behavior worsens or plateaus despite training, prompting the need to collect systematic videos and environmental data to assess possible pain or mobility issues.
Chat & Chuckle with Erika Liljefelt About the Dynamic Dog Practitioner and the Connection Between Pain and Behavior
Q: What cue or antecedent would make you say we need to do a dynamic dog assessment on this dog?
If a client presents with a behavioral issue but there are signs that pain or another underlying condition might be contributing, or if the dog's behavior isn't improving with standard training, I would initiate a dynamic dog assessment to rule out underlying medical causes.
Scholarly Circle – Professional dog trainers’ perspectives on training methods: ethical and evidentiary insights with Dr. Jamie DeLeeuw
Q: At the very beginning, you mentioned that participants were invited. How many were invited and what was the response rate?
We oversampled by about four times to track response rate; not everyone replied, but we had a good turnout and a positive response overall, with many invited participating in interviews.
PPG Advocacy Panel: The Importance of Ethics in the Pet Care Professions—It's Not Just Tools
Q: How many of the first 10 pet care professionals would even know about these standards?
The awareness varies significantly; those in populated areas may be more informed than those in rural settings.
