Being a stepmum is tough. It is a thankless task, where you often you get none of the credit but all of the blame. As women we are expected to simply get on with the job. I have found the lack of stepmother experiences in my social circle have added to my sense of isolation. This podcast made me feel seen and less alone in my experience and feelings. The episodes on blended family dynamics and a difficult ex/biological Mum were wonderful.

This was so refreshing and helpful to hear honest conversation. I feel validated and I more hopeful that this can work. I thought I was a monster some in some of the more complex emotions and situations but now I know it’s being misunderstood and having all these bias/expectations being laid upon me. I have found this a bit of a revelation and recommended to my step mum friends.

It was so refreshing to hear people speaking the truth and sharing stories. The step parent journey is a very lonely one and this podcast felt there is some support out there.

Thank you to Katie for giving stepmum’s a voice, to hear some of women say the things I feel on a daily and to know you are not alone is comforting. Hopefully one day the Disney stepmum culture will lessen. Such a great listen.

I would recommend Katie’s podcasts to anyone who has struggled navigating their way through the step journey!

The episodes are interesting, amusing, a little sad in parts but mostly it’s great to know ‘it’s not just me!’

It makes me feel a million times better knowing I don’t feel differently from others going through the exact same thing as me. I felt really alone and felt my partner who has kids from previous relationships really didn’t understand how I felt. Thank god for this podcast I feel seen, thank you.

Makes me smile so much listening to this. As a young (ish) step mum it can be quite lonely not knowing anybody else in the same situation. Listening to Katie’s podcast has helped me so much in realising my overthinking, worrying and the little things that bother me are not a and that’s I’m not alone, so thank you so much!

Can’t recommend this podcast enough to anyone who is a step mum, or knows and step mum. I’ve asked my partner to listen to it and it’s opened up some much needed discussions about our family dynamic, and my partner has said he never realised the position I was in. It’s helped me to voice my mixture of emotions, struggles and achievements since becoming a step mum and it’s been such a relief to hear other women in the same or similar positions as myself. My favourite new podcast, so refreshing to finally hear from other step mums who don’t paint all sunshine and rainbows and are honest about the difficulties faced. I have loved every episode.
