  • Dumbing down

I get it and it’s kind of interesting, but they talk like they’re speaking to children and them themselves as a pair of irritating teenagers. I feel adding more of their own perspective as medical professionals would improve this, not just listening to experts. Surprised it goes direct on Radio 4

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

What does my body odour say about my health?
Q: Can smell or body odour tell us about our health?
Yes, historically odour was used as a health indicator and today researchers are exploring smell as a potential biomarker for diseases like Parkinson's, though there is no definitive test yet and much remains uncertain.
Doctors’ Notes: Healthy Longevity Special at Hay Festival
Q: Can you start by just giving a sense of the big things that affect our health?
The big drivers include regular exercise, a varied nutritionally dense diet, not smoking, mental well-being, social support, safe environments, access to healthcare, and the quality of one's surroundings and policies that shape daily life.
Doctors' Notes: Friendship
Q: Can we ask about male and female friendships?
Tiffany explains that differences are cultural artifacts rather than biological imperatives, with history showing shifts in which gender is seen as the expert in friendship depending on era and society.
Are friends good for your health?
Q: Tiffany, how can we get the most out of our friendships?
Focus on reciprocity, respond when you can, offer assurances that you care, and maintain small, regular gestures that say you're thinking of the other person, all while recognizing there are many kinds of friendships that can be meaningful.
Is a male contraceptive pill closer than you think?
Q: Are hormonal male contraceptives reversible, and what is the timeline for fertility to return after stopping?
Trials indicate that hormonal methods are fully reversible and fertility often returns after stopping, with most couples able to have babies again once the treatment ends, although it may take weeks for sperm to clear.
