Season-Long Trail Camera Strategy with Jake Hofer
Q: Can you tell us a little about who you are and how you got to where you are today?
Jake Hofer describes growing up in Illinois, starting with deer farming, moving into content creation, interning at Exodus, co-owning Exodus, and building a career around trail cameras, Whitetail Cribs, and multiple podcasts, while balancing real estate as his day job.
Hunting Wisconsin Black Bears with Alaina Roth
Q: What are the pros and cons of hunting bears with hounds versus baiting, and is there any DIY opportunity on public land in Wisconsin?
Hounds offer dynamic dog work and a unique experience, but baiting is a strong option for those who prefer a less dog-centric approach, especially given public-land access; Wisconsin offers abundant public land and many opportunities to DIY hunt if you're willing to put in the time, with proper knowledge of zones and regulations.

Q: Before we dive into bears, can you tell us a little about who you are, where you're from, and how you got to the Wisconsin DNR?
I'm originally from Green Bay and grew up hunting and fishing; I pursued wildlife management, worked in several states on bear and turkey projects, and eventually joined the Wisconsin DNR as the Vilas County Wildlife Biologist and state rough grouse lead.
Cackles & Conservation with The Bearded Uplander
Q: How did that start? What inspired the Bearded Uplander?
Tim talks about growing a beard after a geese-hunt bet, the connection with Gus the dog, and how the beard became part of his brand and identity in the hunting community.
