  • David Draper shouldn’t get a. Microphone

David was completely unqualified to speak about predator management and listening to him try to BS his way through the episode was a chore. Additionally a wolf isn’t killing 60 caribou a year, that’s more than one a week.

“Locals say” “credible people” give me a break. Have an expert on or don’t have the episode.

  • More controversial content please

Thank you for the recent episode on match bullets for hunting, as a avid hunter and reloader who sells firearms for a living I appreciate these topics on educating the public. With all the social media feeding new/old hunters on the “best” practices for taking big game I’d love to hear more topics on small calibers for big game, long range hunting and the reality of these methods.

  • 308 Family

My favorite cartridge in the 308 family is the 243. I have 6 sub-moa loads with one rifle. 55gr Sierra BK’s, 70gr Varmageddon, 90gr eldx, and 100gr interlock, Sierra GK and partition. It seems anything that I feed it groups well and it’s a pleasure to shoot!

Enjoyed the podcast as I have made my foray into Shooting and reloading. I also shoot the 6.5 creedmoor which was good for a 500 yard heart shot on an antelope with a 129 grain hunting performance SST bullet. Just under two mils hold and the BC calculators was spot on.

  • No support for fascists.

Enjoyed the content until they decided to use the fascist’s tag line as a series title. No more Hornady for me I suppose. Glad they outed themselves before I bought anything more from them.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 236 - The FUTURE of Rifle Barrels | Exponential Twist Rifling with PROOF
Q: How does PXT affect drag and velocity at different barrel lengths?
Initial tests indicated no negative drag impact and potential drag benefits across various bullets, with high-velocity performance maintained or enhanced through optimized twist progression.
Ep. 236 - The FUTURE of Rifle Barrels | Exponential Twist Rifling with PROOF
Q: What is the core goal of applying PXT to traditional barrels?
The goal is to reduce dispersion, extend barrel life, and lower torque while maintaining or improving accuracy, enabling better performance across a wide range of calibers and applications.
Ep. 233 - The Truth About Accuracy | What Matters MOST
Q: Which factors affect dispersion the most when wind is present?
Wind gradually reveals the aerodynamic and velocity-variation trade-offs; bullets with higher BC can mitigate wind effects, but a higher dispersion or a larger SD can erode that advantage, especially at longer ranges.
Ep. 233 - The Truth About Accuracy | What Matters MOST
Q: What is this presentation about?
The presenters describe a comparison framework using drag (BC), velocity, and dispersion to determine which bullets and load setups perform best at various ranges, and under different wind conditions, emphasizing trade-offs rather than a single best option.
Ep. 232 - Is Your Powder TOO Sensitive - Or Are You?
Q: How should a shooter test for temperature sensitivity at home?
Use a reliable chronograph across a range of temperatures, test with multiple powders and bullet weights in representative cartridges, and document velocity vs. temperature. Then input the data into ballistics software or Ford Off to model impact shifts and adjust accordingly.
