I like Mark, and the episodes he does with Tony and Dan just chatting or just telling hunting stories are great. The interview episode not so much, the guests are usually just about as riveting as watching paint dry. I understand that they’re sharing good information but they make Ben Stein in Farris Bullers Day off seem charismatic. The foundation episode are always 5 star. Tony is great.

  • Tony for wired to hunt.

Kenyon is getting very hard to listen to. Nobody cares about the “names” of bucks or any of that stuff. Just tell your story. Some people are hunters and some are killers. I think we all know who is who on this podcast.

Q: What would you tell your 2006 self about scouting to broaden success across seasons?
Expand beyond rut-focused tactics to learn about a variety of food sources, different bedding types, and terrain features; develop versatility to hunt from multiple angles and times of year rather than relying on a single method.
Ep. 1014: Scouting Strategies That Separate the Elite Deer Hunter from the Average with Andy May

Most miss how to connect multiple clues into a coherent story—linking sign with bedding, food sources, and travel routes to pinpoint when and where deer move, not just what sign looks obvious.
Ep. 1014: Scouting Strategies That Separate the Elite Deer Hunter from the Average with Andy May
Q: Can you get to a point where you can rely on Spartan Forge or Onyx and studying maps to be successful on the ground, without years of on-the-ground scouting?
Yes, if you immerse yourself in maps and data, you can be effective with e-scouting alone, but on-the-ground experience still adds irreplaceable context that makes you truly proficient and able to adapt when plans shift.
