  • Listen with my sons

Easily one of my favorite podcasts. They guys always keep it light and fun. I pick up a ton of good information, strategy.

My favorite part is that it’s clean I can listen with my kids in the truck and know that they won’t pick up on anything I don’t want them to. Sometimes the podcast turns to a gospel presentation and my boys’ eyes light up. All their favorite things in one place.

Talking Points

EMERGENCY Podcast! (What's the deal with ducks?)
Q: What is the core issue with the proposed rule change?
The core issue is that drain tiles can indirectly drain wetland areas within conservation easements, potentially undermining habitat protections and triggering liability or policy changes that could reduce duck habitat; the government spent years proposing guidelines but is now facing pressure to alter the rule based on public response.
Archery Prep w/ Chris Bee ( What You Need to Bee Doing Right Now!)
Q: What is your philosophy for creating a welcoming, high-end pro shop experience that still appeals to a broad range of archers?
Chris emphasizes a customer-first culture, deep product knowledge, and a non-intimidating environment where every question is welcome, aiming to leave customers fired up about archery and bowhunting.
Archery Prep w/ Chris Bee ( What You Need to Bee Doing Right Now!)
Q: What does your archery hunting season prep look like, and when do you start thinking about equipment?
Chris describes a phased approach: initial setup and tuning over a week, then gradual tweaks, sight tape checks, and ensuring broadhead flight; overall emphasis on practicing and tuning before season to build confidence.
Past, Present, and Future of Growing Giant Deer Featuring Clayton Leonard!
Q: What sparked the move toward Quality Deer Management and how did it originate on your ranches?
Leonard explains that QDM grew out of a combination of observation, neighbor practices, and a desire to breed bigger deer without compromising the habitat. The discussion traces roots to late 80s South Texas where supplementation, habitat improvements, and selective harvesting started to take hold, laying the foundation for a broader movement.
How Much Does Hunting Pressure Impact Deer Movement? Featuring Dr. Andrew Little
Q: What was the basic design of the study and how did you control for hunter pressure?
The researchers created a large 5,000-acre ranch divided into a control (no hunting) and two hunter-density treatments (low and high). Hunters were assigned to 75- to 100-acre compartments within those treatments, with weekend hours standardized to balance effort, and both hunter and deer movements were tracked with GPS devices to isolate the effect of pressure.
