It was interesting listening to this podcast as this is exactly what happened to me I’m also a bat carer.
Our event was filmed by a journalist and as I watched the video months later, I realised how focused I was on grabbing and hydrating as many live bats as I could, I was horrified at hearing myself saying “that ones dead, that ones dying” and just moving on. Where had my compassion gone.
I still feel numb even now.
