近时人心不古，竞尚粉饰，草草了事。痘顶初浑，便云浆足，病家不知，惟医是听。浆不足者，发痘毒犹可医治；若发于关节隐处，亦致丧命，或成废人；患目烦躁者，百无一生，即不死而双目失明矣。愚经历不少，浆色大约以黄豆色为准，痘多者腿脚稍清犹可。愚一生所治之痘，痘后毫无遗患，无他谬巧，行浆足也。近时之弊，大约有三∶一由于七日前过用寒凉，七日后又不知补托，畏温药如虎，甚至一以大黄从事，此用药之不精也；二由于不识浆色，此目力之不精也；三由于存心粉饰，心地之不慈也。余存心不敢粉饰，不忍粉饰，口过直而心过慈，以致与世... more
痘证限期，近日时医，以为十二日结痂之后，便云收功；古传百日内，皆痘科事也。愚有表侄女，于三、四月间出痘，浆行不足，百日内患目，目珠高出眼外，延至次年二月方死，死时面现五色，忽而青而赤而黄而白而黑，盖毒瓦斯遍历五脏，三昼夜而后气绝。至今思之，犹觉惨甚，医者可不慎哉！十二日者，结痂之限也，况结痂之限，亦无定期。儿生三岁以后者，方以十二日为准，若初周以后，只九日限耳，未周一岁之孩，不过七日限。
相传痘疮稀少，不过数十粒，或百余粒，根颗圆绽者，以为状元痘，可不服药。遇则以为三、四日间，亦须用辛凉解毒药一帖，无庸多服；七、八日间，亦宜用甘温托浆药一帖，多不过二帖，务令浆行满足。所以然者何？愚尝见稀少之痘，竟有浆行不足，结痂后患目，毒流心肝二经，或数月，或半年后，烦躁而死，不可救药者。
