  • How powerful….

This show from Amy helps me understand something I struggle with. I have not lived with trauma but I know many people around me have…and I need more compassion and understanding. Hearing Amy’s story and others softens my heart so that I can hopefully be an uplifter and encourager instead of an ignorer. Thank you for having the courage to share.

  • Thank You!

Amy, as you share your heart and story in several of your episodes, I find myself drawn in, and seeing places of my own heart that need healing.

You have a gift of being vulnerable, sharing the right amount of details and are so compelling. Each episode is a cliffhanger, and I must listen to the next.

But more than any technical excellence, your love for Jesus shines through.

    I can’t wait for Wednesdays!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Trauma Isn’t Trendy: Let’s Stop Misusing The Word
Q: How can a person cope with anger related to trauma and reconcile feelings toward God while seeking healing?
Acknowledge anger as a natural emotion and pursue ongoing, trusted therapeutic work to channel that anger into motivation for healing; wrestling with faith while healing is part of the process and support should come from skilled clinicians who respect these beliefs.
Trauma Isn’t Trendy: Let’s Stop Misusing The Word
Q: What should someone do if they are hesitant about therapy modalities (e.g., EMDR) due to past negative experiences?
Seek a trusted professional who can comprehensively assess the individual and tailor treatment, exploring multiple empirically supported modalities (EMDR, CPP, CBT, IFS, narrative therapies) to find what works best for their unique trauma history.
Trauma Isn’t Trendy: Let’s Stop Misusing The Word
Q: What is the best way to protect children from trauma, and how can a parent's own trauma affect their kids?
Deal with your own trauma first and seek support so you can model healthy coping; healing yourself reduces the likelihood of passing on trauma and enables you to create a healthier environment for your children.
