I haven’t even listened to any of these. I haven’t even looked any of their names or anything. The title of the podcast is really cool.
Five stars
This is a FASCINATING dive into medieval history with two quirky, hilarious hosts. This is endlessly entertaining and I learn so much in every episode!
So entertaining and well-referenced! I’ve learned a lot about Medieval Europe in my time including an undergrad degree in the topic. For the events I’m familiar with, the discussion is very accurate, and I appreciate them citing sources. I’d recommend it for anyone even vaguely familiar with the European Middle Ages, as a fun way to zoom into events and people, behaving well and badly!
Been binge listening since I found it about a month ago, really engaging and interesting historical insight. Fun hosts who are clearly very passionate about their work!

A lively history podcast blends medieval scholarship with true-crime storytelling, often weaving in forensic methods, primary-source discussion, and cultural context to illuminate events from the Middle Ages. Episodes frequently connect dynastic intrigue, battlefield violence, religious institutions, and governance with broader questions about legitimacy, memory, and evidence, while the hosts' banter keeps complex topics accessible. Notable strengths include deep research, clear source citing, and a distinctive focus on lesser-known medieval crimes and crises, making it appealing to listeners who enjoy rigorous history balanced with engaging narrative and occasional tangents.
Overall, it stands out for its approachable academic rigor, stro... more
