  • Lacks a deep understanding of the gospel of Jesus

Claims to be a Christian, but makes many contradicting statements in episode specifically about story of faith. Jesus tells us who He is in the Bible. He gives us instructions how to live. He tells us all we need to do is believe and trust in Jesus as our savior and you will be saved. It doesn’t depend on what we choose or decide to make up because it feels right.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

What Science Can (And Can't) Tell Us | David Lahti & Michael Weisberg
Q: Dr. Lahti, how do you think about providence and the activity of God permeating all of nature while it also operates according to natural laws and mechanisms like natural selection?
Lahti argues for multiple levels of explanation, where scientific mechanisms describe how things happen, but God's agency can operate at a higher level that coexists with natural processes; this does not undermine science and allows for purpose and meaning without forcing science to legislate metaphysical claims.
Why the Resurrection Changes Everything (If It's True) | N. T. Wright & Shelly Kagan
Q: Is bodily resurrection essential to your view of immortality?
Kagan presents a secular/physicalist stance that death is the end, while Wright argues that bodily resurrection is central, though not exclusively Jesus-specific, with discussion on continuity of self and transformation of the body.
Why the Resurrection Changes Everything (If It's True) | N. T. Wright & Shelly Kagan
Q: What is your vision of the afterlife?
Wright explains that the phrase 'the afterlife' is misleading and emphasizes a two-stage process leading to a new creation, where the body is transformed in a way that preserves personal continuity within a renewed cosmos.
Lewis, Tolkien, & Friendship | John Hendrix
Q: What do you think we get wrong about friendship?
We often live in an individualistic society which undervalues making choices to prioritize friendships.
Lewis, Tolkien, & Friendship | John Hendrix
Q: What does it look like to be a responsible or accountable friend?
Having regular meetings and being intentional about sustaining trust and vulnerability is key.
