  • Good Podcast

I agree with the previous review. I love the lesson insight for gospel doctrine (I’m a teacher) but really felt alienated by the BYU athletics advert from the recent episode.

  • Great podcast

I love this podcast! Such great background on the history of the sections in the D&C.

Not a huge fan of parts of this week’s episode as it felt like an ad for BYU athletics. A lot of church members don’t care for that and feel alienated with the implication that we should all love BYU.

I know Hank and John work there but just a suggestion to make the advertising for it a little less in your face.

Such a spiritual boost for a young women. Great break down of CFM, and I always hear YW, Sunday school, and seminary teachers quoting and making the same points. Especially love the follow him favorites. Also can we get Kenneth Rooks on the pod?

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Doctrine & Covenants 133-134 Part 2 • Bro. Alvin Jackson • November 17-23 • Come Follow Me
Q: How should Latter-day Saints interact with their government?
Latter-day Saints should recognize that their rights come from God, not the government, and prioritize quality family time, teaching their children about the Constitution, and engaging responsibly with their community.
Doctrine & Covenants 125-128 Part 2 • Dr. Jordan Watkins • November 3-9 • Come Follow Me
Q: What would you say to those who have that fear of diving into their history?
It's a question of expectations. What do we expect of the past? Sometimes we expect far too much of historical figures.
Doctrine & Covenants 115-120 Part 1 • Dr. Alex Baugh • Oct 13 - Oct 19 • Come Follow Me
Q: When did you first get interested in Latter-day Saint history, specifically Missouri?
Dr. Baugh shares a transformative experience he had while visiting a historical site and discusses how it led to his deep interest in this area of Church history.
Doctrine & Covenants 111-114 Part 1 • Dr. Susan Black • Oct 6 - Oct 12 • Come Follow Me
Q: Susan, anything else about 111 do you want to talk about?
I think it's interesting that 111 shows how quickly challenges can arise after a period of spiritual highs.
Doctrine & Covenants 106-108 Part 2 • Dr. Brent Top • Sept 22-28 • Come Follow Me
Q: Does a mission president have keys, and where did those keys come from?
Yes, when called and set apart as a mission president, they are conferred apostolic keys from higher authorities.
