  • Who are we really worshipping?

I am a long time listener, so obviously I enjoy the podcast. But from the very start there is one thing that rubs me the wrong way. This is the first time I have actually expressed it. I know it is intended to be a cute introduction, but every week the thought goes through my mind “who are we worshipping here, Jesus or John Bytheway. I don’t need to describe more. If you listen to the podcast you know what I am talking about.

  • Rebekah Call was Trite and Thin

Listened for half an hour and learned nothing about the scriptures themselves, just Rebekah Calls personal opinions, how many languages she speaks, and her view that Lehi was a terrible parent. I’d love to hear from guests who are serious of faith and the scriptures, rather than repetitive and cliche off the cuff opinions.

  • Hank as a standard

I really enjoy the cheerfulness this podcast uses to inform

Me about stuff I never knew from the scriptures.

I just saw a reel on Facebook, by a guy named Caden. Caden said someone called him a “diet Hank Smith”!😂😂

Hank, how does it feel to be the yardstick by which other’s performance is measured?!

  • So Insightful!

I have been listening to some past episodes to prepare for a talk in church and have listened to several episodes now. I am loving it! I feel I am learning so much. I love the deeper dive into the scriptures. The guests I have heard have been fantastic too.

I do want to add a couple comments about the episode from June 19, 2024 about Alma 13-16. First off, the guest for this episode was amazing! She had so many great things to say about women in the Book of Mormon and women’s experiences world... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

TTKIM 5 - The Historical Books in the Old Testament
Q: Ross, is Lehi fitting into this historical frame, or should we place his story elsewhere in the biblical timeline?
They discuss how Lehi's story sits within the broader arc of exile and return, with notes that some traditions embed its narrative in the historical backdrop but it belongs more to post-exilic or intertestamental considerations rather than the core OT historical books.
Genesis 5; Moses 6 Part 2 • Dr. Kerry Muhlestein • Jan. 26-Feb. 1 • Come, Follow Me
Q: What thoughts do you have on the idea where he keeps telling to repent?
Guests emphasize the importance of continual turning to God through repentance, highlighting it as a hopeful process rather than a burdensome one.
Genesis 3-4; Moses 4-5 Part 2 • Dr. John Hilton III • Jan. 19-25 • Come, Follow Me
Q: John, can we come back to what you said about expectations in the fall?
It's important to prepare individuals for expectations of difficulty in a fallen world, as those can lead to greater doubt in faith.
Genesis 1-2, Moses 2-3, Abraham 4-5 Part 2 • Dr. Rebekah Call • Jan. 12-18 • Come, Follow Me
Q: Rebekah, can you speak to what you saw the general population says about Eve versus what the Latter-day Saints say about Eve?
The mainstream Christian dialogue historically has seen Eve as lesser, but Latter-day Saints view her differently, even though some subliminal threads still exist.
The Articles of Faith and Official Declarations 1 & 2 • Part 2 • Bro. Thom Reed • Dec. 8-14 • Come Follow Me
Q: What do I do with that uncomfortable feeling of I can see how inspiring this is? What do I do with everything before then?
The Lord wants us to live by the principle of forgiveness, and we can move forward from past issues.
