  • Great show, but….

I listen to the show all the time and learn a lot. Thanks to all those who make it possible. But, The podcast on The Proclamation of the Family, failed to talk enough about the sacred obligation of motherhood. The proclamation is the best doctrinal defense we have on defending motherhood in modern times. If the proclamation was rename, “In defense of Motherhood”, it is amazing how the points fall into order. For woman to become mothers, gender roles must be upheld, fathers must provide a living,... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

189 - Is Evolution a Threat to Faith? | Church History Matters I Science & Religion Series
Q: What is the official position of the Church on evolution?
The Church has no official position on the theory of evolution, and it suggests that organic evolution is a matter for scientific study, meaning there is an openness to the theory as long as it doesn't assume that life developed randomly without divine purpose.
188 - BYU Biologist Talks Faith & Science | Church History Matters I Science & Religion Series
Q: What do you think is the most compelling evidence for the truthfulness of the Restored Gospel?
For me, it's the connections I find between biology and the gospel; every piece of science strengthens my testimony of God as a masterful creator.
188 - BYU Biologist Talks Faith & Science | Church History Matters I Science & Religion Series
Q: Could you tell us about your background, like as both a scientist and as a person of faith?
I grew up in the church but had a non-traditional upbringing due to my mother's conversion. I have always loved science and my research interests evolved towards education in the context of religion and science.
186 - Should the Scriptures Be Taken Literally? | Church History Matters I Science & Religion Series
Q: What do we do when scientific and religious truths seem to clearly contradict each other?
The hosts suggest upgrading our assumptions about the nature of scripture and interpreting them for their theological intent rather than scientific accuracy.
172 - D&C 129-131 CFM - Spiritual Beings Are More Than You Think - E46 November 10-15
Q: Why don't we emphasize the more sure word of prophecy anymore?
It may be due to its sacred nature and the focus on key saving ordinances necessary for the majority of the congregation's salvation.
