  • Intellectually satisfying & challenging

As a christian who grew up atheist and now a seminary student, constantly bouncing between the two walls of atheism and hyper-Calvinism, I’m always seeking the truer truth. This is one of the most intellectually satisfying & challenging podcasts I’ve come across. Really appreciate everyone’s effort! Thank you!

  • Balanced and fair

Host gave admirable and fair treatment to both sides. So refreshing today. I presume both guests left satisfied with their treatment and portrayals which I think has the side effect of giving credence to the host and show at large and perhaps the implicit worldview they espouse that guides it. In simpler words, the kindness and intellectual honesty of the hosts helps lead me into a more sympathetic view of their own views which ironically is a more pathos approached evangelical method than eithe... more

  • Unfollowing

It’s always good to know where you stand with people, and this latest episode on Charlie Kirk has sealed the deal for me! To call a man who had very hateful views someone who is admirable is incredible. God did not spread hatred, Charlie did.

Not everyone who calls themselves a Christian is so, and that can even go as far as the people on Premier “Christian” Radio. Disappointed, but not surprised. Goodbye!

Can You Rewire Your Brain? Neurosurgeon Dr Lee Warren on PTSD, Trauma, Faith & “Self Brain Surgery”
Q: So, Lee, as a neurosurgeon, you actually hold the brain in your hands—can personality, consciousness, and even free will be explained purely by brain activity, or do you need to talk about the soul or mind as well?
The traditional view is materialist—that everything comes from brain activity, but the interviewee argues there is an immaterial mind that can influence brain processes. He cites neuroscience research showing brain changes with practices like mindful prayer and meditation, and posits that mind and brain interact in a way that cannot be fully reduced to neuronal activity alone.
Suffering, hell and the search for God with Dr Joshua Sijuwade and Dr Shaun Stevenson hosted by John Nelson
Q: How do you respond to concerns about hell and eternal punishment within your Orthodox-informed framework?
Within Orthodox thought, hell is viewed as an experiential state shaped by the person's response to God; even if ultimate mercy is extended (e.g., through natural felicity), real union with God is not guaranteed for those who reject the gospel, preserving a meaningful, non-arbitrary moral framework while avoiding universalist certainty about every individual.
Suffering, hell and the search for God with Dr Joshua Sijuwade and Dr Shaun Stevenson hosted by John Nelson
Q: What is omni-subjectivity, and why is it important for understanding God's relation to human suffering?
Omni-subjectivity is the idea that God possesses first-person, experiential understanding of human suffering due to cognitive relationship with conscious agents; this allows God to truly grasp what it is like to be a sufferer and to develop virtuous attributes through shared experiences, thereby grounding a more relational theodicy.
Suffering, hell and the search for God with Dr Joshua Sijuwade and Dr Shaun Stevenson hosted by John Nelson
Q: Josh, can you describe how your personal journey informs the way you approach the problem of evil today?
My journey moved from early doubt to a re-engagement with faith, culminating in an explanation of theodicy that centers on transformational suffering: suffering both enables individuals to become moral exemplars and allows God to share in that experience, shaping a relational, virtuous response rather than merely offering a distant explanation.
Can a Loving God Use Evolution? Denis Alexander vs Ed Atkinson hosted by John Nelson
Q: Is it possible to reconcile being made in the image of God with evolutionary theory?
Denis argues that image-bearing is grounded in Genesis and biblical anthropology, not in evolutionary biology, and suggests that the image denotes universal divine valuation rather than a biological property.
