  • Too smart for his own good

Been a huge fan of WLC for many years however he’s now a liberal academic / intellectual who over analyzes everything. It’s disappointing to hear him today talk about Genesis being a myth. WLC believes one must be a scholar to understand the Bible and ignore the plain meaning. We apparently cannot interpret the Bible with the help of him and other elite theologians.

  • Good Apologetics, unfortunate politics

Longtime listener here. While I have a deep appreciation for Dr Craig and his work, I have noticed politics slowly creeping their way into the podcast. I view this as unfortunate but a sign of the times in America, I continue to listen, but with much less gusto as of late.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Question of the Week #979: “Am I a Deist?”
Q: Am I still a theist if I reject all the revealed religions? Am I a deist if I am still open to the possibility that God directly intervenes in the natural order?
The host explains that the caller is a classic deist and that deism is a form of theism, suggesting they already fit theism; the path forward is to consider Christian theism and the person of Jesus to determine belief more precisely.
Question of the Week #977: Genesis 1-11 and the Gospels
Q: how should Orthodox Christians approach these texts as historical documents?
The host asks about an appropriate attitude toward considering these texts historically; the response emphasizes treating the Gospels as historical narratives that foreground Jesus and use a combination of oral and written sources, while recognizing the literary conventions of ancient biography.
Question of the Week #977: Genesis 1-11 and the Gospels
Q: which family resemblances do the Gospels share with other ancient biographies?
Dr. Craig explains that the Gospels align with ancient biographies in both external features (length, structure, and sources) and internal features (topics, style, and characterization), consistent with Burrage's analysis that they function as historical biographies rather than myths.
Question of the Week #978: How to Handle God’s Plan for Your Life
Q: How can I trust and be comforted by God's plan when it may involve suffering or disappointment?
The host explains that God's providence orders the world toward good and that suffering can be a conduit for learning, growth, and the salvation of others. Rather than trying to divine every motive behind suffering, believers should focus on what they can learn and how suffering might fit into God's larger purpose.
Question of the Week #972: Theological Clarifications
Q: Could you bring some clarity to these claims that people on the internet are making?
Dr. Craig clarifies that he does not reject the concept of original sin in its entirety but has a nuanced understanding that differs from traditional interpretations, particularly regarding the imputation of guilt and the nature of the corruption of human nature.
