  • I really want to like this more

I really do like this podcast. I think it’s loaded with interesting speakers and the topics are always interesting. But you see my star rating is only 4/5.

For one, it seems to start abruptly and end abruptly. It doesn’t have to be a Jonah Goldberg “The Remnant” style debrief after a guest, but a little breathing room would be nice to chew on things.

I also think hearing a bit more from Dr. Dru would be nice because he is in many ways our ears and voice to these authors and thinkers - it would... more

  • Gratitude

This podcast is a gift. It sets an example of how to listen carefully to thinkers from different perspectives without fear that they will undermine our confidence in God’s Word as divine revelation.

  • Bible believing seminary professors

It is nice to find professors who believe the Bible instead of feeling a need to be accepted by the rest of woke academia. They so often offer deep insights that incorporate the whole Bible into a unified collection pointing to Jesus.

What Hegseth Gets Wrong About Pharisees (Jeffrey Garcia) Bonus Episode
Q: What practical steps can pastors take to guide conversations when controversial terms like Pharisee are invoked in public discourse?
Invite dialogue with scholars, avoid combative starts on social media, and bring ancient texts into conversation with contemporary experiences to model respectful, informed inquiry.
What Hegseth Gets Wrong About Pharisees (Jeffrey Garcia) Bonus Episode
Q: Is it ever appropriate to discuss the Pharisees in a sermon or teaching, and how can one avoid anti-Semitic implications?
Yes, but teachers should anchor discussions in careful historical exegesis, acknowledge the diversity within Pharisaic thought, and frame discussion within the broader biblical narrative without painting all Jews with one brush.
What Hegseth Gets Wrong About Pharisees (Jeffrey Garcia) Bonus Episode
Q: When pastors or public figures compare journalists or others to Pharisees, how should listeners understand the historical term and its implications?
It's important to differentiate between the ancient context of Pharisees and modern uses of the label; do not overgeneralize or weaponize the term, and encourage dialogue that considers scholastic nuance rather than shorthand labels.
Is Job a Trauma Survivor?: Suffering, PTSD, and Healing in the Bible (Michelle Keener) Ep. #252
Q: How do you suggest that we imbibe in Job?
Michelle suggests starting at Job 1 and reading through the entire book, then rereading the epilogue first to grasp the full arc, and finally returning to the rest of the text to notice how patterns and themes develop across the book.
C.S. Lewis Under the Microscope: Biblical Accuracy, Errors, and Influence (Leslie Baynes) Ep. #250
Q: How does Baynes characterize Lewis's approach to problematic quotes versus his more positive biblical insights?
Baynes suggests that while Lewis often cited accurate scripture and offered significant insights (e.g., reflections on love), he frequently misquoted or embellished passages, and acknowledging both the strengths and errors leads to a more nuanced appreciation of his work.
