  • Too much music and woke!

I’m on the first episode after going through I think three promo episodes and unfortunately it is full of over the top sound effects and wall-to-wall music. You can’t let the story stand for itself? Also, the insertion of woke ideology in this is really depressing. When John explains how White privilege kept our main character out of

  • Incredible Story but…

Incredible story and very well produced but, for me personally, the delivery style was off-putting. This wasn’t a movie, it was real life; lives were altered forever. I got the sense that this guy is like a comic book super hero to John Stamos. It felt wrong. I would recommend for people read an article or book on the subject instead.

  • Really nice listen

I really enjoyed this, it’s a fun pace, Stamos is a great narrator, and the story is wild. Would highly recommend.

  • Captivating story

Thoroughly enjoyed listening until chp 10, when Barry tells us he decided to get rich(er) from casinos and tells us how great casinos are, even somewhat pulling MS out of from poverty. This is not true. I lived in MS for 42 years (Jackson & Hattiesburg) and know that, in fact, only the rich got richer.

Crime in Harrison County (Biloxi is the county seat) became rampant as the Dixie Mafia ran the casinos, 2 high-level murders were committed, & it took the Feds entry into this mess to finally... more

“For most true crime podcasts out there, I dare say the podcast itself is the biggest crime. But this one? This is the glorious exception. It’s on an entirely different level—narratively, creatively, and in terms of sheer storytelling perspective. It’s authentic, refreshing, and wildly inventive. The plot twists alone are worth the ride, but what truly sets it apart is the humor—dark, unexpected, and absolutely hilarious in hindsight.”
