Thank you for producing this episode. Highly Recommended for all of us practitioners who deal with patients everyday.

I have a conscientious objection to this law, UNLESS the eligibility criteria will include Maximum palliative care input before a patient gets approval. If exceptional palliative care provision happens, then no one will actually need to use this law.

How we can keep experienced GPs working in the NHS
Q: What policy implications did Nada highlight as most important to stop the exodus of mid-to-late career GPs?
Restoring a sense that work is containable and professionally sustainable, creating credible workload boundaries, and protecting continuity of care are key interventions for policymakers to focus on.
How we can keep experienced GPs working in the NHS
Q: What did the study find about why experienced GPs stay or leave?
It found that retention depends not just on workload volume but on conditions that allow safe and meaningful practice, including continuity of care, supportive teams, clear workload boundaries, and good leadership that helps organize work.
How we can keep experienced GPs working in the NHS
Q: What led you to undertake this follow-up study on GP retention after the 2016 regroup study?
The team wanted to understand what had changed in general practice since 2016, particularly with online consultations, hybrid access, and ongoing pressures, and to explore how these changes affect retention among experienced GPs.
Lessons from a pioneering practice on making neighbourhood health work
Q: When did you start working in this way and why did you do it?
The shift began as an incremental response to the internal market, aiming to provide simple, needed services in general practice to benefit patients and reduce hospital visits, eventually growing into a large, GP-owned model with on-site diagnostics and urgent care coordinated with hospital partners.
