My career is an accident. It started when I set out to rediscover my passion and reignite a spark I’d lost — and that journey led me to the work I do now. If you know me from my books or my speaking, you know I’m fascinated by why people do what they do. What makes someone find joy and meaning in their life, or pursue something far greater than themselves? I started A Bit of Optimism to explore th... more

We live in a world that pushes us to simplify everything: right or wrong, good or bad, this or that. It makes things and our place in the world easier to understand.
But the truth is rarely simple… in fact, it’s often messy and deeply human.

Hi Simon, I really enjoy your work and the topics you cover. I wanted to mention one small issue— the sound quality, particularly the volume levels. I listen on Apple Podcasts, and sometimes even at maximum volume it’s hard to hear the conversation.
Thanks again, and keep up the great work! ☺️
I really hate it when the host keeps interrupting the guests. If you’ve invited them, show some respect and let the guests speak properly. Otherwise, just do a one-man show every episode—why bother inviting guests at all?
Simon always has great insight into every topic and he find amazing examples to back up stories. However, I would like to hear from your guests. Take the recent episode with Angela Duckworth for example, I think Simon took about 70% of the air time of that episode. Even the soundbite at the front of the show is a highlight of himself. Please let your guests speak more.
This is the only podcast I make time to listen to no matter who the guest is. I take notes while listening and revisit the past episodes frequently. Looking forward to hearing Simon speak in person at some point.
Unbelievably hard to listen to. Great guests, interesting topics… all lost because of how frequently Simon interrupts, redirects the guests’ discussion, simply to hear himself speak and state things “he knows” and feed his narcissistic needs.
I like Simon. The old Simon. The new Simon is out of touch.
