  • Great

Recently came back to listening to these podcasts. They are really useful and not overloading on information. I really like using cases to discuss management rather than reeling off guidelines and the use of specialist guests to help explain this in more detail is brilliant.

  • Excellent

I’m a newly-ish qualified GP. Subscribed to about 5 or 6 different primary care focused educational podcasts and this is by far the best.

Clear presenters, appropriate length, excellent guests. Keep up the great work.

Tips for listening, and how to avoid dismissing young women
Q: What practical steps can clinicians take to improve listening and trust?
Be explicit in inviting patients back for follow-up, validate concerns without necessarily agreeing with every point, acknowledge uncertainty when appropriate, and ensure continuity of care to strengthen relationships.
Tips for listening, and how to avoid dismissing young women
Q: Can you explain the chain of dismissal and why it matters for clinical practice?
The chain of dismissal is a series of micro-dismissals that progressively frame a patient's concerns as psychological or exaggerated, delaying appropriate treatment and increasing anxiety; understanding this helps clinicians maintain context and empathy.
Tips for listening, and how to avoid dismissing young women
Q: What did Laura's research reveal about where young women experience dismissal?
Young women frequently report dismissal and disbelief in primary care, leading to stress before visits and a need to prove symptoms, which can contribute to avoidance of care and worsened inequalities.
How General Practice can support International Medical Graduates
Q: What practical advice would you give GP practices about how to support International Medical Graduates?
Practices should ensure a warm welcome and establish a supportive environment, including dedicated induction periods and approachable educational supervisors who offer fair assessments and support.
How General Practice can support International Medical Graduates
Q: Why is it important to address the challenges faced by International Medical Graduates in general practice?
It's important because working with IMGs benefits the practice and the country. It creates a positive environment for IMGs, fosters better patient care, and helps to address workforce shortages.
