  • Anglocentric

I know all the presenters and most of their guests are English, but I do think that a podcast that bills itself as being “for all women” might do a bit more news about what’s going on in the other parts of the UK. They treat Scotland as a joke. There’s the Edinburgh fringe (good, worth bothering with) and literally everything else about Scotland (bad, silly, laughing stock) Considering Scottish voters are generally more progressive and Tory-detesting, I’d have thought Scotland would be more to t... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Rated or Dated: One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975)
Q: So, lads, and apologies for making this sound like an essay question, given that McMurphy's crime, Statutory Rape, is a lot less likely to be brushed off as just one of those things by modern audiences, and given his treatment of candy at the party is now more likely to horrify than not, is it fair to say that actually McMurphy is the real villain of the piece?
Yes, McMurphy is depicted as unlikable and manipulative, embodying both protagonist and antagonist qualities in the story.
I, Spy (with Agnes O'Casey)
Q: How do you go about reconstructing that final scene?
Agnes describes the scene's complexity and highlights the importance of sound and lighting in staging it.
I, Spy (with Agnes O'Casey)
Q: How are rehearsals going for The Spy Who Came In From The Cold?
Agnes mentions they are going great and that she enjoys working with the cast from the previous production.
Sarah Grant on history’s most fashionable queen
Q: Why do you think Marie Antoinette is so revered as a cultural icon?
Her complex story, glamorous fashion, and the tragic end to her life make her an enduring figure of fascination.
Sarah Grant on history’s most fashionable queen
Q: Can you tell us a little bit about Marie Antoinette to start off with the subject of the exhibition?
Marie Antoinette was an Austrian princess, sent to marry the future King of France at a young age, becoming queen at 18. Her life was marked by the political and social turmoil leading to the French Revolution.
