  • Not really a feminist

I just want all the women who think that Deborah fun fab and empowering to realise that she is actually men’s rights activist. Just think! Feminism isn’t about us very comfortable, privileged women, it’s about all women including the very vulnerable, the ones who have tough lives, who have to live in poor conditions and communities surrounded by parolees and other violent and disturbed people we may never have contact with.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

474. Waterstone’s Book Club with Max Olesker and Jess Robinson
Q: How did writing these books affect your younger self and your heritage?
Both speakers describe discovering and reinterpreting family histories to understand their own identities more fully, highlighting how personal stories can illuminate broader cultural and historical truths.
472. Ten for Ten #7 with Desiree Burch
Q: When did you first identify as a feminist?
Desiree describes realizing feminism as innate rather than something learned as a word, emphasizing that the belief was there before she embraced the label.
Birth Keepers with Sirin Kale
Q: God. How did you first find out about this story?
Lucy Osborne and I became interested in social media commentary around birth, noticing how Instagram accounts like Free Birth Society present seemingly mainstream branding while promoting more extreme, anti-medical views, prompting our reporting.
471. ROAD TO GILEAD: The History of Queerphobia with Abigoliah Schamaun and Dr Harry Tanner - part one
Q: Can you tell us a little about how we came to think that about classical Greek love?
There is very little, if almost no evidence that the narrative of older men having relationships with younger boys was true; that was mostly an assumption based on earlier academic excitement over any mention of homosexuality in ancient texts.
471. ROAD TO GILEAD: The History of Queerphobia with Abigoliah Schamaun and Dr Harry Tanner - part one
Q: What drew you to the Greek classics? Was it in search for this answer?
No, I actually went to Latin and Greek earlier because my grandmother had left a legacy for me to go to a posh prep school where they taught Latin.
