  • So heartwarmingly authentically informative!

I love everything about this podcast and have started at Episode 1 and working my way to current. Claire’s intelligence, knowledge, good humor, caring disposition and her delightful accent (I’m an Aussie!) are a well rounded service delivery. I have not been board or disengaged through any episode! Listen every chance I get, am up to mid 2024 and all in to get to the end. I am completely and utterly confused about how Substack works but know that ‘all will be revealed to me’ by staying connected... more

Q: But I'd love to know more about when you decided to write that book, like when in your journey were you already on Substack? How did that all come about?
Eleanor explains how she used Substack as a testing ground, gathering reader feedback and iterating on book concepts, which helped shape the final structure and title, with publishing partners later aligning the work for print.
The Work That Must Be Written: Sharon Blackie on Story and Substack
Q: How do you advise writers to root their own stories more deeply?
Rooting a story deeply comes from an essential need to get the truth out; the writer must express something viscerally and uniquely that they can't live with otherwise, rather than writing merely to become a writer. The point is to connect personal experience with a sense of place or larger meaning, ensuring the work is authentic and purpose-driven.
