  • My favorite author podcast

I’ve been listening to the Creative Penn for years and love learning from her and her amazing guests. I appreciate her insights, personal updates and reflections, and optimism about the future. When I had a baby and stopped writing for a bit, I still listened every week while pushing the stroller around my neighborhood, she kept me in that creative mindset which I needed so much during that time! Always look forward to a new episode!

  • I tried 2 different episodes, and it was more about AI (a "tool" I will NEVER use in my writing) than actual writing tips. I walked away with zero actual new insights into writing.

    TL;DR: For ChatGPT fanatics only.

Cardin explains living into the dark as a broader ethos beyond outlining—trust that the creative process unfolds in real time, accept the present moment, and use silences as fertile ground for ideas. He relates this to Jungian ideas of synchronicity and the balance between preparation and incubation.

Matt Cardin describes a lifelong draw to storytelling influenced by his father, his early success in contests, and a career that balanced writing with academic work. He emphasizes how his best income has come from editing and academic projects rather than pure fiction, while maintaining that writing remains a passion kept in a protected space.
Audacious Artistry: Reclaiming Your Creative Identity And Thriving In A Saturated World With Lara Bianca Pilcher

We need intentional showing up from a place of self-regulation and having trust in our unique voice.
Audacious Artistry: Reclaiming Your Creative Identity And Thriving In A Saturated World With Lara Bianca Pilcher
Q: How do you think that physical practice of creativity has helped you in writing?
It taught me to ignore noise and show up in a rhythm that works for who we are as creatives.
Post-Traumatic Growth, Creative Marketing, And Dealing With Change with Jack Williamson
Q: What specific issues have you seen in the author community and how might we be able to deal with those?
Williamson highlights the creativity and neurodivergence in the author community, suggesting that authors should avoid 'shiny object syndrome' and find their own path in a supportive environment.
