It’s the podcast version of a student using too many synonyms to beat the professor’s word count on an essay. A 3-4 minute podcast stretched to 16 thanks to the constant repetition of a few extremely basic concepts to begin with, only for her to wrap everything with a review of all the points at the end. I should have expected as much from someone whose in-story examples are Harry Potter and the Hunger Games.

  • First and only review

I’ve been using Apple Podcasts for years and have never left a review before . ( I think ) been searching and listening for years about this topic and nothing stuck or made sense . I started listening to savannah a while back and wow . I’m 8 chapters into my story that I thought I’d never write . Thank you so much.

  • No thank you

I’ve listened to a few of these, they are mostly light fluff that isn’t my cup of tea but not problematic. Then there was an ep about writing with chronic illness, which I found to be particularly distasteful. Really othering, espousing ableist rhetoric and exoticising suffering. It left a poor taste, especially at its 2025 not a very special episode of a sitcom from the 90s. People with chronic illness deserve better.

  • So helpful!!

I just love her knowledge sharing. It is my favorite writing podcast. Her favorite books on writing and why is spot on. Her comments on how the rewrite looks like a spiral is so true and if I only heard this ten years ago, I might have known I was doing it right.
