  • They Support and are sponsored by Predatory companies.

Hello, I am just a little shocked that there is no accountability with an organization that claims to support authors. I paid for their membership and I believed I could trust their watchdog list, but was taken advantage of one of their highly rated members/partners/sponsors. Gatekeeper Press is one of this podcasts sponsors and in their ad even promises 100% satisfaction. There is nothing stating that if you are not satisfied they will force you to sign an NDA before offering any solutions. The... more

Inspirational Indie Author Interview #206: Cliff Lovette Reinvents Himself as a Storyteller After a Career in Entertainment Law

He explains it is clearly fiction with authentic details; the ringmaster narrator guides the story, and the book emphasizes storytelling over strict fact-checking, with some real historical figures included to ground the narrative.
Inspirational Indie Author Interview #206: Cliff Lovette Reinvents Himself as a Storyteller After a Career in Entertainment Law
Q: So let's go back in time a little bit and tell me where you grew up and whether books were a part of your life.
Cliff describes growing up on Long Island, discovering literature in a Quaker school, and discovering theatre in high school, which set him on a path toward writing and critical thinking before moving into law.
Interview: Why Self-Editing Matters and How to Strengthen Your Manuscript Before Hiring an Editor, with Howard Lovy and Katie Chambers
Q: How should authors handle AI in the self-editing process?
AI is a tool to aid self-editing, not a replacement for the author's voice; prompts should guide improvements and help identify issues, rather than producing wholesale rewritten chapters.
Interview: Why Self-Editing Matters and How to Strengthen Your Manuscript Before Hiring an Editor, with Howard Lovy and Katie Chambers
Q: What practical techniques can authors use right away to improve their manuscripts?
Use a multi-pass system, focus on two topics per pass, read out loud or have AI read aloud for certain topics, and use targeted searches for crutch words and repetition to guide focused improvements.
