  • They Support and are sponsored by Predatory companies.

Hello, I am just a little shocked that there is no accountability with an organization that claims to support authors. I paid for their membership and I believed I could trust their watchdog list, but was taken advantage of one of their highly rated members/partners/sponsors. Gatekeeper Press is one of this podcasts sponsors and in their ad even promises 100% satisfaction. There is nothing stating that if you are not satisfied they will force you to sign an NDA before offering any solutions. The... more

Inspirational Indie Author Interview #211: Michael Maloof Turned Global Adventure and Tech Experience Into Award-Winning Thrillers
Q: Congratulations on the awards and we'll get to that. But first, tell me where you grew up and were reading and writing always a part of your life?
I grew up in the Silicon Valley era before it was the Silicon Valley, surrounded by apricot orchards; it gave me a sense of exploration and an early curiosity about technology, which later fed into my writing.
How One Indie Author-Illustrator Cracked the Kids' Graphic Novel Market, with Anna Featherstone and Mike Barry
Q: What was the key turning point that pushed you toward self-publishing instead of chasing traditional publishing?
Publishers liked the work but it didn't fit their lists or print processes, so the project became a portfolio piece that demonstrated viability while the author chose to publish independently to maintain creative control and build direct connections with readers.
Inspirational Indie Author Interview #210: D. K. Marie. Romance Author Discusses Hope, Healing, and Building an Indie Career on Her Own Terms
Q: Why did you move from traditional publishing to indie, and what did you learn along the way?
Traditional publishing gave me a step up but felt constrictive over time, like a middle man I wanted to cut out. Indie allowed me to choose covers, editors, and marketing, and to tackle topics traditional houses wouldn't touch, though it requires learning the business side and building a team.
Inspirational Indie Author Interview #210: D. K. Marie. Romance Author Discusses Hope, Healing, and Building an Indie Career on Her Own Terms
Q: What was it about romance that connected with you, and how did the genre evolve in your view?
Growing up I read horror and thrillers, but what drew me to romance was the empowerment of women choosing their own path. The newer romances let women become their own people first, and even in dark stories, romance provides a hopeful, comforting thread.
Inspirational Indie Author Interview #210: D. K. Marie. Romance Author Discusses Hope, Healing, and Building an Indie Career on Her Own Terms
Q: First, tell me, where did you grow up and was reading and writing always a big part of your life?
I grew up in Michigan, I've lived here most of my life, and I didn't start writing until later. I've always been a huge reader across genres, and I've built up roughly ten books in about ten years, with more to come.
