- Too many personal anecdotes and asides
Maybe the hosts insert personal anecdotes and random info to help pad the run time, but it’s distracting and very annoying. This plus Appalachian crossed with valley girl affectation of one host makes it unlistenable for me.
But the addition of AI scripting for recent episodes made me take this off my list entirely. So many local focused crime podcasts have started using AI scripts and it’s awful.

I’ve completed up to 2023. I’m not going to be too negative. I will say the telling of the stories needs improvement. I hope it gets better from here. As others said in reviews the mispronunciation of words is painful. Podcasts are quirky in nature and if I desired a perfect product, I wouldn’t be listening to podcasts.
What is fun about this podcast are the stories, tales, and updates that cover WV. Looking forward to catching up to current.

Tried a couple episodes out and while the actual stories could be interesting, the hosts’ delivery is not good. Instead of telling a story, it’s quite obviously being read from a script. If you want to do a good podcast, good strong telling is a MUST. Also, there were some mispronunciations that bugged me. I gave it a good try, but it’s a no for me.

The only reason I kept listening was because I was interested in the story that I listened to. The storytelling is horrible. There are plenty of educated people in West Virginia, but the hosts sound uneducated and are a poor representation of West Virginians. They mispronounce words - not just uncommon words like rocuronium, but also common words like cooperate. They use poor syntax and misuse words.
