  • No Body

I love understanding more how these can be successfully prosecuted. The metaphor presented was perfect for me, a stickler for “prove it to me”. Great interview.

  • Get to the Point

25 minutes into the podcast and you haven’t started talking about the case! Genuinely I recommend this podcast but seems to drag on and be repetitive sometimes.

  • great

firstly: bob drew is extremely good at getting this roundtable of profilers back to the crucial point(s), always. very no-nonsense, constant common sense.

secondly: mike morford you've been caught out! on this podcast you speak without your tone dropping down at the end of your statements so i know you could do it on your own pods, too! i love your work mike but (perhaps because i am a non-native english speaker) i miss so much of what you say when your tone drops.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

141. The Murder of Martha Moxley – Part 3
Q: Andrew, what are your thoughts about Furman's book given the access limitations you mentioned?
Furman's conclusions appear limited by a lack of autopsy photos, crime-scene materials, and full access to investigative files, leading to a biased or incomplete portrayal of the case that Andrew argues should be weighed against more comprehensive sources and direct documents.
135. No-Body Homicides with Tad DiBiase
Q: How did you get into the field of no-body homicide investigations, Tad?
I shifted from prosecuting traditional homicide cases to exploring no-body homicide after a case in DC sparked my interest; I began collecting data, publishing a blog, and eventually wrote a practical guide to help investigators and prosecutors handle these cases.
130. Jeffrey Dahmer: A Case Study – Part 3
Q: Anything else?
The group discussed the nuances between behavioral analysis and clinical diagnosis, noting that many clinicians would require stringent legal criteria to label someone a psychopath, while behavioral analysts focus on observable traits and patterns without making formal diagnoses for a case.
130. Jeffrey Dahmer: A Case Study – Part 3
Q: Now I want to get into the psychological evaluation. In your review of The Files, Paige, what was he diagnosed as? What did you agree, disagree with, just generally?
Evaluations varied but most agreed on paraphilic disorders with necrophilia; some noted personality disorder traits, and only one suggested a major mental disease (psychotic disorder). The defense evaluators tended to challenge sanity, while the prosecution and court-appointed evaluators leaned toward sanity at the time of the crimes. Overall, the panel acknowledged a complex mix of diagnoses but did not converge on a single label beyond paraphilias and related traits.
123. Inside the Gardner Museum Heist with Retired FBI Agent Geoffrey Kelly
Q: What do you feel differentiates this from a perfect crime?
Geoffrey Kelly remarked that while the heist was successful in terms of escaping without immediate capture, it wasn't a perfect crime because no profits were made as the stolen artworks remain unrecovered.
