  • Broken episode

I started listening to Episode 422 which seems really interesting, but the episode has weird skips. Some times it will skip back a few minutes, then it will skip back, cutting off sections of the discussion. It’s hard to get into a podcast with these issues.

I was curious to listen to this one as I am very interested in temple history. However, disappointed to have listened for an hour and to not hear a single mention of masonry or its influence on the temple clothes or ceremony or temple at all…seems like that is a pretty clear piece of the history that may have been left out to your listeners.

  • Informative and fair!

I am a born and raised faithful member and I love this podcast. It is not anti-Mormon. The questions are fair and well-researched. And the guests offer a wide variety of opinions. Thanks for all you do!

  • Too many “likes”

I’m very excited about the new Mormon’s in Media addition to the Mormonland podcast. I was eager to listen to the first installment, but could only listen for a brief time. The podcasters said “like” far too many times and it’s grating in the nerves and sounds very unprofessional. I hope they can correct this unconscious habit because I’m excited about what they have to say. Thanks, a loyal listener.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

‘My mom cried and my dad went silent,’ says gay son of famed LDS composer | Episode 451
Q: Looking back, could the church or culture have done something differently to help keep you in the room?
Jeff and Michael acknowledge that while change is ongoing, accountability and apology for past harms could help, but personal work and conversation are essential for healing, and staying committed to unconditional love matters most.
‘My mom cried and my dad went silent,’ says gay son of famed LDS composer | Episode 451
Q: What advice would you offer to gay kids or young adults growing up in the LDS faith who want to connect with their family while staying true to themselves?
They suggest that honesty, vulnerability, and the willingness to let family members walk their own path can gradually open doors to acceptance, and that seeking community and professional support can help sustain individuals through the process.
‘My mom cried and my dad went silent,’ says gay son of famed LDS composer | Episode 451
Q: You mentioned that this book is also to help people going through the same experiences that you went through; what would you tell other families in similar situations?
Jeff and Michael emphasize that the process is slow and deeply personal, and that staying in the room means listening with empathy, not insisting on change, and allowing space for each person to heal at their own pace.
About Brazil's Latter-day Saints | Episode 448
Q: All right, so quick, give us a brief summary of your early experiences in the church and how the 1978 Priesthood Temple change for black members affected your life.
Marcus explains his family's conversion in Rio de Janeiro, the intense improvements in church access after 1978, and how the priesthood policy shift opened opportunities for leadership and temple involvement in Brazil.
'After Happiness': Surviving today’s challenging economic and polarizing climate | Episode 450
Q: You've brought up several times that happiness is performed by some in the community. Why is that a problem?
The pressure to appear happy can mask deeper struggles and can blur genuine faith with social performance, making people feel they must conform to a script in order to belong.
