The recent episode on young conservatives (5-13-26) was so out of touch and condescending I am withdrawing my KUER support.

  • How the mighty have fallen

This used to be one of my favorite shows. NPR used to let the “Public” call in on this show, Diane Rehem, TOTN etc all had the “P” involved. That’s when it stopped being national public radio and just became national liberal radio. The episode about “controversial new mining practices in Utah” is laughably ridiculous it’s just gross when rich entitled libs talk ably salt of the earth “folks” and try to use them to further their political agenda. Stop indoctrinating propagandizing and preaching. ... more

  • Public lands discussion

Just across the border, Idahoans don’t seem to have the same sentiment about transferring lands to the state. Polls show a majority of Idahoans reject the idea due to cost of management and the constitutional obligation Idaho would have to sell the land to maximize profit. I’m curious why according to the poll you stated, the majority in Utah support the transfer of lands, even electing such strong proponents for this view, including the Utah governor, reps and senators. Our state reps and gover... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The New History of a Famed Expedition
Q: How does Sacagawea's portrayal change when you emphasize her agency and language skills?
Sacagawea is not merely a symbol; she is a skilled communicator who used sign language to engage with captains and Native leaders, shaping negotiations and the expedition's decisions in real time.
The New History of a Famed Expedition
Q: What drew you to tell the Lewis and Clark story from perspectives beyond Lewis and Clark themselves?
I wanted to highlight how the expedition was not just a duo's journey but a convergence of diverse actors— Indigenous nations, enslaved individuals, and soldiers—whose voices reveal the expedition's true breadth and consequences.
The Data Center Gold Rush and the Communities Standing in the Way
Q: Is the political fault line over data centers more a traditional left-right dispute or something broader?
It's broader than a simple left-right split; it resembles a horseshoe where both sides of the aisle—pro-business groups and environmental advocates—align in different patterns at the local level, with some centrists supporting regulated, phased approaches.
The Data Center Gold Rush and the Communities Standing in the Way
Q: Do you see a pattern developing for data center projects from Indiana to Utah, where initial enthusiasm gives way to public backlash?
Yes, across different states there seems to be a pattern where first arrivals generate optimism about economic opportunities, but as construction accelerates and more details emerge (especially around power and water), communities rally against the pace, leading to backlash and calls for more thorough impact assessments and community involvement.
Drawn to Grisly Movies? This Psychologist Knows Why.
Q: Should parents let kids engage with scary content, and how should they approach it?
Yes, with guidance: gradual exposure, choosing age-appropriate material, and using scary play as a learning opportunity to teach emotion regulation and bravery.
