  • Stephen is a veteran.

From speaking with Stephen 1 to 1 it becomes clear in the first 30 seconds that’s he’s a master of his craft in estate agency.

The main thing that stood out to me from Stephen is that he had a constant appetite to learn more, grow and expand - that’s the type of person I want to learn from.

Lunchtime Learning with Silas J Lees
Q: How can agents change the industry's reputation and avoid commoditization?
By building authority through training, education, and thought leadership (e.g., writing books), creating a trusted yardstick to differentiate the best from the worst, embracing collaboration across stakeholders, and delivering high-value services that justify fees beyond simple commoditized pricing.
Lunchtime Learning with Silas J Lees
Q: Seven pledges. What are the other six aside from referral fees?
The episode outlines commitments including a six-to-eight-week transaction timeline, upfront material information and transparency, the Maverick Movement as a collaborative platform, banning referral fees to improve efficiency, and a broader reform framework that enhances value for consumers while remaining profitable for practitioners.
Lunchtime Learning with Sally Holdway
Q: Can agents monetize digital logbooks or sale packs, and how does branding play a role?
Yes, agents can monetize or offer as a value-add; branding via dual-branded logbooks or sale packs helps keep the agent's relationship with the buyer or seller prominent throughout and after the transaction.
Lunchtime Learning with Sally Holdway
Q: Will lenders and solicitors accept information from a logbook as part of AML and due diligence?
There is a journey toward lender and conveyancer acceptance, with the RLBA advocating for conveyancing-grade and lender-grade standards to ensure data in logbooks is usable across the transaction.
Lunchtime Learning with Sally Holdway
Q: What exactly is a digital log book and why is it important for today's transactions?
A digital logbook is a digitized, user-friendly repository for all property information, stored in machine-readable formats so data can be shared across parties, with live feeds and alerts that speed up transactions and improve accuracy.
